What to do when disk is protected?
If your VSO product says your disk is protected, then you need to install a decrypting tool that will remove the protection.
Here are some decrypting tools:
- DVD43 free too for DVDs
- AnyDVD HD by SlySoft (Recommended)
- Passkey for Blu-ray by DVDFab
How these tools work:
When the decrypter is running, it works as a background process, making the disk readable so that software or you can access the contents directly. Without a tool like this the contents of the disk cannot be seen.
***Make sure legally you are allowed to use these software products in your country in order to make your own personal copy.
(As a French company we are not allowed to create software that removes the protection from disks or other digital content).

Once AnyDVD is installed, launch AnyDVD so that in the bottom right hand corner of your computer you see a little icon in the shape of the head of a fox.

If the icon is not in color that means AnyDVD is not running actively. TO have it run, right click and select "Enable AnyDVD"

If your Blu-ray Converter is already open and the drive already selected where you have inserted your disk, press the refresh button and select the drive again.

Now the Blu-ray Converter will be able to access and read the contents of the disk for converting.

To see if AnyDVD has removed the protection of the disk, go to Computer and right click on your drive where the Blu-ray disk is inserted, and select "Open"

If you see a folder with the name "AACS" then the protection has not been removed. Close and reopen AnyDVD to try and refresh it so that it detects and scans the disk again (make sure you are using the latest version of AnyDVD)

If you see a folder named "ANY!" that means the protection has been removed and you will be able to convert the contents of the disk or read with a video player such as VLC (free).

I strongly agree with Claire, Slysoft's AnyDVD HD will solve all your copy protection problems. They have very good forums to answer all your questions. I've been using it for four years now and have NEVER had a problem! :D

SlySoft's servers are no longer online as of Feb 24, 2016. Anyone use Passkey from DVDFab?
