Switching from W10 to Linux

Post by yoyo57 »

My old pcs are not W11 compatible. One option I am considering is going to Linux.
Has anybody had any experience with installing ConvertX suite on LInux?

Hello bud,

I have never seen nor used Linux…

Does it have a gui like Windows &run Windows’ programs ?

Using a Virtual Machine would be great environment to test that ;)

Keep us posted if you try stuff, sure other people on here would be curious !

Hello Yoyo,

unfortunately there are no Linux versions of ConvertX programs given so the only way to install and run these is to emulate the Windows environment. And that means also performance decreasing due to the emulation.

You wrote that your pc's are "old". If old means lower system performance I wouldn't choose that way.

But you can install/upgrade your pc's to Windows 11 although they aren't officially compatible according to Microsoft:

Use the freeware tool Rufus to create a Windows 11 setup USB drive (due to the process in Rufus you can set options to bypass TPM or CPU restrictions while Windows setup).

Maybe this is useful for you.

CXD might run in a Windows emulator on Linux. I believe there's one called Wine?
