some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Player
Since a week I am using VSO instead of VLC and was very suprised to see how nice and easy the program is.
Although I am very enthousiastic I do have some small suggestions for, and issues with VSO.
I am using the latest version, 1.3.10.470.
1. Minimizing by clicking on the icon in the notification area is not working.
In fact the icon does not seem to have any function?
Suggestion:
- right click on the icon opens the settings menu
- left click on the icon maximises/ minimises the screen
2. The columns in the playlist are not configurable.
At this moment I see 'Feature' and 'Length'.
It would be nice to have the columns configurable, but at least two suggestions:
- adding the track number as a column
- reordering the playlist by clicking on the columns (for example clicking on the column header 'feature' would sort the list alfabetically from a to z and visa-versa)
3. The VSO Media player window is taking focus.
For example; When I have a windows explorer window opened on top which is smaller then the full screen (but not maximised) VSO media player window which is at the back;
when I go over the VSO Media player window with my mouse it is switching to top and the windows explorer window is gone to the back.
4. I am missing the deinterlacing options as for example in VLC.
It would be nice to have the option to choose and therefor optimise the deinterlacing settings for some videofiles with settings like Yadif, Yadif (2x) and Mixing.
Now some video's, especially with lower resolutions are showed in less quality then with VLC where I select Yadif (2x).
5. It seems the Dutch translation is not complete?
For example subtitle editor, internal, but also all advanced settings are not translated?
That's it for the moment.
Keep up the good work!

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Pla
Hello,
Thanks so much for your great feedback. I think we can add a lot of these options.
I will open official feature requests for these next week.
Again thanks for taking the time to spell this all out and give us your opinion and suggestions!

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Pla
Feature requests officially made, but they are not a priority for the moment so they might not be added or added quickly to the program.
http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=7598 additional deinterlacing settings
http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=7597 playlist columns configurable
http://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=7596 add new actions when in tray notification area

This is not happening to me. What OS are you using? Could it be your own configuration of your settings for your computer? Is it the same behavior with other apps? Like what if you had paint open in the back and you moved your mouse over it, what happens?Sjonny wrote: 3. The VSO Media player window is taking focus.

Thanks for this information. Translations are done by volunteers. We will see if the current translator has time to update the translations.Sjonny wrote: 5. It seems the Dutch translation is not complete?

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Pla
Hi Claire,
I am using Windows 7 64-bits, but with the following auto-focus settings in the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"UserPreferencesMask"=hex:90,32,07,80,10,00,00,00
"ActiveWindowTracking"=dword:00000001
"ActiveWndTrkTimeout"=dword:00000096
"ForegroundLockTimeout"=dword:30d40
Those settings will focus the window, but normally it will not bring it to front.
Other windows on top is giving the same behavior.
Other mediaplayer at the back is not brought to the front, where VSO is.
About the other points; they are in the '(very handy and) nice to have', so I understand other things (bugs etc...) do have priority.
Thanks for posting the feature requests.

Hi Sjonny,
I've fixed an issue that might have caused the strange behaviour you reported.
We'll be sure when we release our next build.
Thank you for all your feedback.
Best regards,
Felicià

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Pla
Glad to hear Felicià, keep up the good work!
Btw, I found another issue too; not sure what the reason is.
At my system, DVD's do not play with VSO and give a message that the media is not supported.
This is the reason I switched back to VLC at the moment, but I will defenately follow the progression of VSO and try it again with newer builds
Have a nice weekend!

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Pla
If the DVD is not protected you should be able to press "ok" in the warning window you may be seeing and be able to play the disk.
If the DVD is protected then you need a decryptor such as DVDFab or AnyDVD to be running during the same time you request to load and play the disk in VMP.

Re: some suggestions for and small issues with VSO Media Player
Hi,
I don't have Media Player installed yet (New computer)
I know there a setting where you can set xx seconds of buffer (Read Ahead).
Have you tried increasing this buffer value and see if it kills the studering ?
