Can you recommend a good video player to replace Windows med

Post by Elroy Stolle »

Can you recommend a good video player to replace Windows media player?

Needs to be free, and as good as Media player. Media Player is not playing all of my downloaded files, I’m running XP and this is for downloaded files, not DVD’s movies.

The two players I know of that will play almost anything are VLC Player and GOM Player.

If VSO Media Player is not enough then Media Player Classic Home Theater is.
So far it is only player that is able to play FullHD mkvs on my old computer without any problems.
All other play huge amount of different formats but hickup badly with FullHD mkv, audio sync problems, picture stutters etc.

Hey Elroy,

I've tried those popular video players such as Windows Media Player Classic, VLC Player, BS Player, etc. But to me, nothing beats the simplicity and effectiveness of Mirillis' Splash Player.

Mirillis offers 3 packages: Splash Player Lite, which is free. Splash Player PRO, which is a paid version that offers more. And Splash Player PRO EX, which is basically Splash Player PRO with an extra feature that allows you to convert video files to different formats quickly and can utilize hardware for accelerated conversion. All 3 packages can utilize hardware acceleration for watching videos.

Check it out! :D

Try PotPlayer, 100% freeware, updated frequently 32bit and 64bit versions. I use it after using MediaPlayer Classic and got fed up of the 'issues' it had

Will automatically play virtually any video/audio you give it, including blu-ray and dvd with full menus

Used to be called KMPlayer

Steptoe: Where can I get a English version of this Potplayer previously KMplayer developed by a Korean tech. with the best subtitle (srt) feature?

I only found the Chinese version freeware.

Thank you.

Subtitle information is in ifo. You need to have finished conversion to properly show subtitles.
