VSO Inspector -- Meaning of "Surface Scan" Error Codes

Postby Tommy59375 » Sun Aug 12, 2018 5:16 pm

Hello.

I used VSO Inspector v2.0.2.0 on a Windows 7 x64 PC to perform a surface scan of a DVD-R 4.7GB that I had burned with a different program on a different computer.

VSO Inspector produced some error codes in the report which indicated my disc had some bad sectors. One of these was 08 00 00 [Blank check] and another was 03 11 05 [Read error, L-EC Uncorrectable error].

All the sectors from 2131744 until 2250767 produces these errors and failed to be read. However, VSO Inspector does not seem to give me any more information on how to interpret these error codes and diagnose the issue with my disk, so where can I find this information? When I performed the "File Test", all the files on the disc were read and checked by the program without problems.

I have attached the report which VSO Inspector generated.

Thanks, TC.

Your disc is not full, so there are sectors that have not been written to. You can not check non-written sectors on write-once disc, checking requires writing and reading.
All those errors are outside of burned area so nothing to worry in this case.
