How to specify and override User Agent String

Hi,

Can you please provide the ability to specify the User-Agent String when manually entering the download URL screen and also make a default preference around which user agent string should be used?

When downloading videos from YouTube sending a User-Agent string of an iPad will trigger YouTube to return an MP4 file instead of MKV file. I prefer MP4 files over MKV as they have better cross-platform support and I do not like converting files using the VSO Downloader converter when I can get MP4 directly from YouTube or other sites which respond differently based upon the user agent string.

I see the feature in other downloaders and VSO Downloader is missing this ability.

Thanks

Hello,

I also like my videos to be .MP4 with H264 video and AAC Audio.

I see you are not a fan or the conversion portion in downloader :(

The issue with VSO Downloader 5 is it will probably download the lowest quality video.
I use Youtube High Definition ADD-ON for Firefox and ask to get the highest quality video.

Not sure it will help your problem, but wanted to share...

Downloader 6 introduces the ability to setup request headers manually.
Item->Information->Details->Headers
If you want to set user agent just add something like

Code: Select all

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:98.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/98.0
