It seems the input file with the partial name Playboy After Dark - S02E13 - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Marty Ingels, Noel Harrison - 1970-02-20 is the culprit. It's probably not authored correctly. Given it's name, it sounds like this file may have been downloaded? I'd say about 25% of downloaded movie files aren't authored correctly, resulting in some kind of error somewhere. Either in playback or conversion.

Try this: download and install a piece of freeware called AVIDeMux. Load the above file into it. Save a new copy, but choose a different format output. For instance, if the source is an MKV, save it as an MP4. Try converting the new output file in CXD.

If that fails, try saving a new, different output file in AVIDeMux, but change the Video option to something else instead of Copy. I use x264. Try converting that new saved file. Be aware since it's an entirely new recompress, it will take longer to save this 2nd new file than it will in the first step.

Thanks for your input dbminter, all information I can gather from the pros helps me in the long run..knowledge is king to a novice like me,
What I ended up doing last night (until 5 in the morning!) was find a free online converter that would change the mp4 format to something else. I find a lot of those free converter sites are useless, basically they hold back on what they can do until you sign up and pay $.
Alas, I found one, changed the format to mkv and it worked! I was so close on giving up, but I invested a lot of time in downloading the P.A.D. series and I was determined.
I also unistalled and reinstalled ConvertXtoDVD at the beginning just to see if that mattered, I don't think it did. Anyways, all is good for now. :D

PS I'll keep the freeware AVIDeMux bookmarked for anymore future troubles. Thanks.

Those steps with AVIDeMux are what I use when I have a problematic file that won't convert in CXD. I do a lot of conversion of my VHS tapes to DVD. This produces a raw source that CXD sometimes chokes on. So, it must be converted to a different container with different software. However, even those MP4's can cause CXD to choke, so, I feed them into AVIDeMux, which usually produces input CXD tolerates.

That specific file has very badly encoded audio.
No need to process video, just process audio and then convert in CxD.
As original is from old film all you need is 2-channel audio, even mono audio might be enough.

Ah, my AVIDeMux solution probably wouldn't have worked here unless you changed Audio from Copy to some other compression so some kind of conversion would be done. My suggestion only affected the Video.
