Which resizing is best?

I'm encoding 640x480 video to 1280x720 and want to know which upsizing filter to use - linear, cubic, spline etc. I want clarity and accurate color.

Use the preview window to test and see what you prefer.

Edmantay did some research about that.
I think for upsizing the Mitchell filter is the best.

1) For upsizing, Mitchell is probably about the best filter you can use. It minimizes ringing, blocking, aliasing, moiré, and manages blurring well. Although Lanczos is precise/detailed, when upsizing, it exhibits some of the worst ringing effects. Mitchell also excels for cartoon-type images. For downsizing, Mitchell has problems with moiré and blur.

I use mitchell for upscaling 1080i to 1080p with great results.
