Need feedbacks from new Video Converter feature...

Hi all,

I've just added a new feature in last Video Converter beta version (1.0.0.5) allowing to capture audio/video from external devices.
Like there's several different input devices available on the market (WebCam, CamCorder...), I will be grateful to have some user feedbacks about it.
Please let me know if your device is not listed, if the capture job can be done or not, and if the final file can be played/converted after import.

Thanks!

ok my first feedback

1-issue : capturing from firewire only captures video, the source does not appear in audio source

2-suggestion: the choice of captured vide destination (other than default vso capture that is in the root disk and coul fill it up real soon)

I hope I`ve been clear.

thanks.

Capture does not wotk at all on my WinXP 32 bit with a capture card, ATI All-In-Wonder, Radeon 9600 XT, AGP.

I am trying to install version 1.1.0.5 on my other computer with WinXP 64 bit. The application appears to install without problems, however when I try to run it I only get the message below. This also happens with version 1.1.0.4. I have not tried other versions on this computer.

Specs:
Mobo Asus P8P67 Pro Rev 3; Graphics Card EVGA Geforce GT 620.

Hello Coral,

Your problem seems to be a signature issue, will be fixed for next version.

PS: You'd write your message in a new topic because it's not related to capture module...

Regards,

You're right , Cedric. Sorry.
Please note the first sentence in my post. It is very much related to the capture module.
I am very much interested in the capture module since I do quite a lot of capturing from Sat. receiver and other media sources.

Ok, now can capture DV with audio (a little jumpy thougth) and also can choose folder for output. thanks.

However all the video captured is in 25 fps, why? also is there any other file output other than MKV?

my DV cam is for NTSC and MUST be captured 29.xxx fps.

I hope it helps.

Hello Cedric,

The signature issue is fixed. No problems now.
I still can't figure out how the capture module is working !

(1)There is no picture in the preview window.
(2) Can I set for PAL (720X567) or NTSC DVD (720X480) standards ?
(3) Can I set for 4:3 or 16:9 ?
(4) Can I capture a movie (video+audio) ?
(5) Can I use my templates for mpg 2 compression ?
(6) Can I choose ac3 or mpg audio ?

My capture cards are AGP and PCI. I can't get any good results on both.
However, I must congratulate you for including a capture module. In my opinion it is a very bold step.

Hello Coral,

(1)There is no picture in the preview window. -> The preview is only displayed when the capture starts.
(2) Can I set for PAL (720X567) or NTSC DVD (720X480) standards -> the capture module use the native video format of plugged device
(3) Can I set for 4:3 or 16:9 ? -> same as (2)
(4) Can I capture a movie (video+audio) ? -> yes, just select your video source, your audio source then click on Record button
(5) Can I use my templates for mpg 2 compression ? -> This is only a capture module and the result file can be modified only after import
(6) Can I choose ac3 or mpg audio ? -> same as (5)

The purpose of capture module is to record audio/video streams from devices to a temporary file.
This temporary file use a format (mkv) using parameters tuned to be the less CPU intensive and allowing "on the fly" conversion on slow computers.
I can't let the user to choose the temporary file format because some formats/codecs (like H264, not multithreaded codecs...) can't be used for live recording.

The capture module generates temporary files, not final/usable files.
That's why these temporary files are imported in Video converter tree after closing the window: to let the user to do all changes he want before converting to final format.

@Chihuahua: I will update the capture module to use the device native frame rate for the next version.

Regards,

Hello Coral,

I added the feature request you wanted...
You can now capture and convert on the fly using any encoder profile (except remuxing profiles) from profile selector component.
Select the encoder profile you want to use in top right menu, open the capture module, then select the third option in "Capture methods"

Hello Cedric,

As I said in a previous post. The capture module is not working for me.
(1) I can't get a preview even when I star capturing.
(2) I can't Stop capture because the stop button is greyed out when capture starts. I will have to click Cancel or OK to terminate capturing.
(3) The produced file is not playable, because it is produceing a 0 bytes file. I have no problems with other capture modules.
(4) How do I know when to start capturing if I can't monitor the point whare I want to start the capturing since there is no preview picture before I start capturing ?
