Converting .mov to .mp4, no sound.

Post by Mike89 »

I tried converting a few .mov vids I had taken with my camera to .mp4. It converted the video but there is no audio. i screwed up cause I deleted the .mov's before I actually checked the mp4s. I lost 4 vids (that now have no sound) this way. Now I can't be so quick to trust this program is working properly. I guess the saying, "trust but verify" holds true here. My mistake

Of course you should always verify results before deleting source.
Still I wonder about your problem, logs might reveal something.

Actually the only one of the MP4 options that didn't have sound (from converting a mov) was MP4-Mpeg4. Using either of the other 2 MP4 options had sound.

Also I got my sounds back on those other ones. I just converted them again to avi and got the sound back. So at least I didn't lose anything. Appears those files didn't like the MP4-Mpeg4 conversion option.

Hello Mike89,

If the audio tracks are back after converting to AVI, I think your problem can be the video player you use to check your converted files.
What player do you use? Is it able to play AAC audio format?
