Release notes:
Small bugs corrected, brand-new VSO Reporting Tool

Change log

3.0.0.69 Released 2019-10-02
Upgrade bug reporting tools
==============================================
0013702: [Suggestion] Even if the project has been saved - it asks again when closing the software
0013716: [Bug] All VSO products not opening for no obvious reason
0013722: [Feature Request] VSO Reporting Tool is not user-friendly.

3.0.0.68 Released 2019-06-24
Fix HD subtitles rendering issues
==============================================
0013654: [Bug] Video sources contained in ISO files are no longer supported
0013657: [Bug] Poor quality in converted subtitles
0013659: [Bug] "Check for Update" not working well
0013662: [Bug] no progression bar during conversion
0013670: [Bug] WMV format can't be converted to mp4 - no video - sound only
0013673: [Feature Request] Add setting to space lines of subtitles
The entire subtitle support is not yet perfect: In case of plaintext subtitle overlap (so if the next subtitle start exactly at the previous subtitle end, or a few milliseconds before), the encoder may produce a subtitle that will play correctly on PC and most standalone players, but may not play correctly on other (the older subtitle is re-displayed in degraded quality). This issue occurs only with plaintext subtitles as source, when subtitles overlap or are chained without delay, on older standalone blu-ray player - recent one doesn't seem to suffer from that. So it's a pretty rare issue. To solve it, a pretty big rewrite of the encoder is required. However, because it's rare and to avoid further delay on the much awaited subtitle improvement, we are releasing what we have done as of today.

Re: CXtoHD - beta v6.0.0.9

Post by SomeoneElse »

It's actually 2.0.0.9.

I'm tempted to try it, but I've wasted so many discs with 1.x due to issues, I am not sure if this will be too buggy. Is there any documentation anywhere on some changes in version 2.0?

I never got that whole issue about discs failing to play if files were edited, too. It's too hard to figure out why it suddenly started doing that. So I just haven't burned a disc in a month. I'm tempted to try this version just in case, since I already know 1.x will not create my discs properly.

I assume it's not free to go from 1 to 2 with the standard license, though? Or at east not once it goes out of beta stage?

5 and 6 are the toDVD versions. 1 and 2 for this, but I assume the same is still going to apply.

edit: my convertxtohd doesn't even show up when I type in my email address for the get new key page. I got this program through TrialPay. I assumed it came with 1 year, but maybe not. I am not going to pay to update it, this soon after getting the current version. I've only had it for a few months. Especially with all of the bugs there's been. I have wasted probably 20 discs due to bugs.

This is a question you are going to ask VSO directly --> http://www.vso-software.fr/support.php

They can look up your licenses and tell you if you are eligable to v2 free or not etc...

Hardware optimization causes the same "audio but no picture" issue that is present in version 1. As much as I enjoy creating coasters and also wasting money on a lifetime license in the hopes that I might someday have a usable product, do you think it might be possible to get this issue fixed? This is getting ridiculous.

Not to complain, but I've had so many coasters with this program, too. I think I've wasted like 20 discs. First it was forcing 4:3 content into 16:9 and now it won't let me edit any titles and I guess they've been off along time for holidays, so hopefully when they're back they figure out that issue, since others finally seem to have the problem of discs not playing also.

Well, mine play, there's just no video. The menu looks fine, including the preview icons. But when any of the actual titles play, no dice.

Here's an interesting data point, though. I'm having trouble with one of my Blu-ray players, so I popped the disc in my PS4 instead. The video was there, though the audio was out of sync. But in the (Sony) Blu-ray player that's functional, audio but no video.

I cast my lot a week or so ago and bought lifetime licenses for both CXDVD and CXHD, because I think they're fabulously useful products and I have faith that this issue will be corrected. I guess we'll see if that faith is as misplaced as the pile of coaster Blu-rays in my garbage can implies.

We do our best to fix problems in their order of priority (severity and depending on how many people affected and if work arounds exist or not).
Believe me we'd really like to fix the hardware encoder problem that causes "audio but no picture" on some players. It is a priority as a couple of users have reported the problem. A fix was provided but that only fixed the case on some players not others that still have the problem.

And yes otherwise as SomeoneElse has pointed out, some of our staff is off for the Holidays.

And updated guide for menu editing is coming soon
that will be linked from
https://www.vso-software.fr/guides/cxd/ ... to-dvd.php

What is true for new features of ConvertXtoDVD v6 is true for ConvertXtoHD v2, see:
why-update-to-convertxtodvd-6-new-excit ... 18959.html

To avoid coaster you can cancel the burning and watch your result first with PowerDVD or VSO Media Player and if correct then go to Action / Burn an already converted file.

I had the same problem, I couldn't get this program to burn a successful disc, so I just converted the video to an ISO and used ImgBurn to burn the project, this worked for me.

One thing I wish could be done at some point is a feature where if you want to use a title from a PAST converted project in a new project then it simply adds it and doesn't have to convert it. Because if this very program already converted it before, why would it need to again?

That would save me sooooo much time when I have these discs not play. As it is now, I have to convert the entire project all over again, whereas if I could just add the already converted files from the project into a new one and it use them directly instead of reconverting (or maybe even us just copy the files and add them directly into the new directory or something) then it would just have to build the menus and rewrite the ISO file etc and not have to waste hours converting an already converted file again. I bet then it would solve my issue with edited titles not working, since they'd no longer be edited in the next project.

DaveRFD, I already do that and that's why discs started working a while back, but then this issue started happening even when I do use imgburn. It's odd because if I add titles without editing them the disc works fine, but if I cut segments or merge files, the disc won't play at all even though the titles play fine online so it's not that the titles weren't created properly. It's something about the settings of the disc itself because it never even goes to the menu. It auto stops.

That is odd. I just finished a 6 title (Star Wars - Complete Saga) compilation where the 1st project didn't have the subtitles (my mistake). I edited and added subtitle files, burned the new project and I'm playing it now, all seems fine.
Not the same edits you're making so not sure if this is indeed replicating your issue or not.

BTW, my 6 film project worked FLAWLESSLY...thanks VSO!
Excellent quality conversion and the new Menu options are fantastic but since BD-R's are so darn expensive, I converted to an ISO file and burned using ImgBurn.
