Converting Vob Files to Mpeg

Post by Wallace1297 »

I'm trying to transfer multiple vob files from a DVD into Convert X to DVD. I merge the files into one and then click convert. However, I'm not looking to burn the merged files onto disc, just convert the file to Mpeg or similar. Once it has been converted I then intend to use a program where I can change the ratio from 4:3 into 16:9 and then enhance the footage to 1080p. But when Convert X to DVD is finished converting it always wants to burn the file(s) onto disc. I don't want this. So how can I just convert the files(s) only (no burning onto disc) and then store the file into a folder on my PC for later use?

Create an image on HD instead burning directly. Check settings.

Default Settings --> Burning --> Uncheck the option box for Burn result to disk or as an ISO file in working folder.

To set the output folder, this is under Default Settings --> Global Settings --> Working Folder.

Can't see which format I can save file as. Also every time I try to attach a file it loads but doesn't appear in the post.

Great - NOT. I've did what you said but all it did was copy the Vob files. It didn't change to Mpeg or similar. So I'm back to where I started. Please help.

If you think CXD will convert VOB to MPG, that's not what CXD does. CXD converts containers TO VOB format. More specifically, to the DVD Video standard, which will be VOB, IFO, and BUP files in a VIDEO_TS folder.

I think I have Handbrake and AVIDeMux which will convert VOB's to MPG's.

If you're looking for a VSO solution, I think ConvertXToVideo might convert VOB to MPG.
