Fails on AAC 5.1 audio

Post by owdjim »

The "Report Bug" feature appears to do nothing yet, so please forgive the screen shot.

UHD Converter fails to convert a file with AAC 5.1 audio. Screen shot and file description from MediaInfo are attached. File opens file in ConvertXtoVideo.

hello,
First of all thank you for this report.

On the bug itself as stated by cougar the source file is needed to investigate. The upload site is a good way to send us this file.

and also the FFmpeg log file mentioned in the screenshot will help.

Yet from what I can see the issue is a probable audio rematrixing issue - ie convert from 5.1 to 2ch, or just map the channels from AAC layout to AC3 layout. Something that I suspect can be easily solved with the source file.

Also we have filed the bug in our buglist:

https://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=14342

edit: BUG has been entered twice by mistake - https://bugs.vso-software.fr/view.php?id=14341

About the "report bug" doing nothing, that's correct. The button download/open the VSOReport tool, which is an old tool existing only for Win32 and without support for UHD Converter. The multiplatform version is being finished and is going to be deployed soon so anyone can submit bug from any platform. this is needed also for Downloader, especially for the MAC version.

OK. I have uploaded the file.

https://upload.vso-software.fr/?r=/down ... BPYmplY3Rd

I'm using the "Recent Players" profile with videolan/ffmpeg encoders.

Hi,
File has been received.
The issue is confirmed to be a audio channel layout issue.
The audio channel layout is the mapping of the audio channels - to make it simple it describe the order of the encoded channels: LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER, LOW FREQUENCY, REAR LEFT, REAR RIGHT - it is the standard layout for 5.1

In the provided source file, the layout is not defined (unknown) in the input and therefore the layout is missing for the output and the encoder refuse to start as it doesn't known the channel order.

We will very soon provide a fix, yet it is not a perfect one: if the "unknown" source layout is not the default one, the result may end up with mixed channels. Yet such a case might be very (and I mean very very) rare
