News....

Post by Maggie »

As some may already know, we are looking for a new team member. (hurray!)
Today was The big meeting, the team planned the months to come.

In very brief, Jacques will release a Downloader version end of this week with a new feature (subtitles!), and goes back on FFMPEG (64bit).
Hoping we will find our new colleague soon, she/he will work on the V6 of Downloader (new interface, clean code/structure, potential MAC/Linux compatibilities, plenty of new secret features ;) )

Estimation dates:
64bit remains unchanged (May 2020 best case scenario)
Downloader v6 ALPHA June/July 2020 depending of our productivity!

Trying our best to make VSO great again

Happy new year to all :)

Cheers,
Maggie,

Wow that is great news !

Downloader and ConvertXtoVideo are the two software I use the most

I think Jacques will be very happy not being the only coder in the shop, I miss the old team, but this is the future :D

Thank you for keeping us in loop with the news...

Question to all...

Is the whole application going to be 64bits or just ffmpg ?
Sorry I am not a coder :)

Can someone speculate, 32bits VS 64bits conversion, are we to expect a slight speed change, or hold on to your hat and enjoy the fast ride ? :)

In brief, for H264(AVC1) or other currently available encoding formats, we estimate an increase of 20/25% so a significant speedup.
H265(HEVC) and AV1 will be (obviously) slower since they claim more to encode.

However, with hardware acceleration (AMD cards will be implemented) you should have 100/130frames/sec (4x realtime) using recent good cards.

Hope it answers your question ;)

Good morning,

This is great news...

In the past, us VSO maniacs :D and ßeta testers, had DIRECT email access to the developers when working on some issues.

Is this an avenue that VSO will permit again for us ?

This way, there's a lot of direct interactions, try this !
Didn't work, oh I see, let me change this, how about now ?
Yes this works but now this changed etc...

Just an idea

That's the way I have worked with Felicia on the template editor. We spent months of collaboration.

Hi guys,

For now, it is not possible since we only have Jacques as IT and clearly he is overwhelmed and would be even more if 5 of you are trying to solve a different issue... ^^ This was possible because VSO got a bigger team (10p at some point! one IT only resolving bugs!)
However, if we succeed in the investments we are doing (interface, 64bit, new soft...) we might be growing more again and I can assure you, you will have direct access to IT team ;)
