Does anyone know why DVD+R.....

Post by robertg_s »

Hello

Does anyone know why is it DVD+R 4.7 GB no longer work? I used to able use them or DVD-R 4.7 GB blanks for my projects. I have noticed I get problems with the burning process or tells I need to place a dual layer in order for it burn properly.

Thanks
Robert

Have not had the issue and I mainly use +R and occasionally -R.

Suggest you try RW DVD while you troubleshoot the issues with your set up.

From memory you have already tried clean reinstall, and swopping the actual DVD Drive.

Can only suggest uninstall the app, delete temp folder used, clean registry.
Reboot and then do a clean install of the app, when prompted for this on about the 3rd screen into the app.
Also which version of Windows do you use?

What is size of project to burn?
If it is over DVD+R capacity then it asks for DL disc.
You find real size from conversion log.

Hello,

Post us your burning logs please…

Using CHEAP medias will cause you all sorts of issues.

Purchase Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden online, and this should solve 98% or 99% of your issues …

If you purchase Verbatim DVD media, you have to purchase the RIGHT Verbatim DVD media. Don't get the Life Series you find in brick and mortar stores. Those will be CMC, which will cause no end of possible issues. You'll want the DataLife Plus Series (NOT Life.) that you can only find at online stores. They are also labeled as AZO media sometimes.

Hi robertg
If you can, try using the app on a different pc to help problem solve it. yes may be the media used, but personally I don't get issues with different media brands failing with the symptoms you describe here and on your other posts

As I said elsewhere on this issue, I would invest in a 2nd USB burner. Particularly a different make and manufacturer than the one you're currently using, especially if it, too, is a USB drive. That way, you can isolate if it's a hardware problem. If the 2nd USB burner works fine, you know it's not the discs you have, CXD itself, or a Windows hardware issue. It's the other drive you were using. If it happens again on the USB drive, then I'd next try to see if it's the discs you're using by getting something else, particularly the higher quality Verbatim DataLife Plus/AZO or Taiyo Yuden media. If you still get the issue on the USB drive and different discs, then it's either a problem with the CXD installation, since it had worked before, a Windows issue, or some hardware on your PC.
