Converting to largest possible files size for DVD9

Post by beeeffcake »

I want to use the entire DVD9 when I burn a movie backup. I could have an 18GB movie file and after ConvertXtoDVD 7 does its thing I'm left with a 2GB movie ready to be burnt. Is there a way to change the settings to make the best quality movie backup to maximize the space on a DVD9 disc?

This question has been asked time after time.

File size means nothing. DVD resolution is totally different.
If your original is 18Gb 2160P (3840x2160) resolution and you convert it to DVD resolution 720x576 then your result will be a fraction of original size - makes sense on that 2Gb result.
3840x2160=8294400 pixels in one frame vs 720x576=414720 pixels in one frame.

Check your conversion result, if it is good then accept it with current filesize.

I just Googled the highest DVD resolution and it stated 720 x 480 pixels. I thought it was much higher. I still wish I had a choice within ConvertXtoDVD 7 to change my DVD resolution to 1920 X 1080.

I use convertxtoHD3 for the higher resolutions, and use either bluray format on BD25 disks or avchd format on "cheap as chips" DVD5 disks

I forgot I bought that app. I'll need to request an updated key it's been so long.
