corrupted subtitles when converting

Post by srulikg »

Since I upgraded to verstion 7, when trying to convert a video with subtitles the subtitles appear corrupted. I am using subtitles in Hebrew.
If I try to convert a video with subtitles in version 5.0.0.45 the subtitles appear okay.
If I try convert in any version newer than that, the subtitles appear corrupted.
How can I resolve this?

I had a same problem. Exactly the same, except my language is Japanese.

I chose Japanese in both language setting and subtitle setting page.
Nothing has changed though.

Is there any suggestion?

I think I've found a solution for this problem.

Save the subtitle file as UTF-8 (not as ANSI or Sift-jis)
and choose UTF-8 at convertXtoDVD7 letter code selection , not JAPANESE .

Some subtitle editors,like subtitleworkshop, don't support UTF-8.
I believe it caused me the trouble.
I suggest you open the subtitle file by note pad or something ,and save it as UTF-8.

It surely worked in my case.
