Hardware encode performance

Post by bilged »

Hi. Can anyone post their experience with Nvidia NVENC hardware encode? I'm currently transcoding 4 files from 1080p HEVC + AAC 5.1 to 720p H.264 + AC3 stereo and I'm only getting 40-60fps on each file. Speeds are similar for NVENC hardware encoding and OpenCL software encoding (2 simultaneous encodes each).

Hardware is a GTX 1050 ti 4GB for GPU and Ryzen 5 1600 for CPU.

CUDA vs NVENC vs OpenCL vs CPU

I created a profile to match yours (720p , etc.) and here are the results.

The first one (on top) is my custom profile to create a blu-ray disk (1080p with hard code subtitles). The file is much bigger (bit rate 30 mbit/sec).

The original file is 1080p from Amazon (using Redfox's AnyStream to download).

My hardware is a bit unusual. Dual Xeon E5-2680 (2.5 Ghz) with 128 G of RAM and Quadro K5200. Hard drives are all SSD.
