Question about "cutting" movie keeping aspect ratio

Post by mue.mat »

Hello
I'm trying out the new feature "keep aspect ratio" (thanks a lot for making my request possible so fast).
But in any way it's not working as I want:
My aspect ratio is 1280x720, using "letterbox". Now I want to "cut" movie's bottom with burnt subtitles. While I change from "letterbox" to "user setting", checking "keep aspect ratio", I don't get a 1280x720-letterbox-aspect ratio any more. I can in fact cut from the bottom, but even while checked "keep aspect ratio", the result will not be a 1280x720-letterbox-aspect ratio. But it is this I should like. How can I get, even while cutting the bottom of the movie, again a letterbox-aspect-ratio?
Thanks for your help.

I guess I know what's happening:
My aspect ratio is 1280x720, using "letterbox". Now I change to "user settings" and cut movie's bottom with burnt subtitles. While cutting the bottom of the movie, there should be also the possibility to have another box to check: "KEEP ORIGINAL" (not only "keep aspect ratio") and a "CUT TOOL".
Why this? Because I want to cut only the bottom of the movie to get rid of the burnt subtitles while the rest of the movie remains unchanged.
My wanted output-format (f.e. 1280x720) will be achieved by converting the movie into f.e. BluRay-format.
Is it possible to get these changes in next beta-version?
Thanks a lot

Did you tried the last beta version and the keep aspect ratio setting?

Yes, but if I set "keep ascpect ratio" the format is "wrong". If I cut the movie from the bottom, the format should stay the same as the original (not yet keeping aspect ratio, just cutting the bottom of the movie away). The conversing itself gives after that the right format (f.e. 1280x720).

Yes, exactly! It should be like you show (just cutting, not changing the format of the movie).
But at the moment, actual Beta Version 2.0.0.20 it looks like this: --> Attachment picture

Ok, I can reproduce your problem if I use a fixed resolution format (DVD, Blu-ray...)

That means in next beta version my request might already be done?

This is a bug when using "keep aspect ratio" setting with fixed resolution format.
Will be fixed in next version...

Thank you!

With new version 2.0.0.22 "keep video aspect ratio" setting is now working fine if using fixed resolution output profiles (DVD, Blu-ray, AVCHD...).
