Interlace issue ?

Post by patient007 »

Hi,
Is there a de-interlace built into convertx-to-video ?
I noticed some pretty extreme jaggy on some anime files, and Handbrake's output is a lot nicer.
I thought maybe it was to do with the resize settings (even though i am keeping the same size of the dvd file)
My resize for upscale and downscale is set to Linear VSO.. would this be to blame ?

This is the log from handbrake

The one from convertx (in users/appdata/roaming/vso) looks like a corrupt text file ?
sdk_media_stats.log

Is this logfile supposed to be readble by me ?

Ignore the above i found where the logfile is

No, the log files are located there:
C:\ProgramData\VSO\ConvertXtoVideo Ultimate\1\Log
They looks like "ConvertXtoVideo Ultimate 1_mainlog_.20160120.171039.170.log"

Thank you,

Ok, I checked your log files and found 2 major differences:
- You used software encoding in Handbrake, but you used Hardware encoding in ConvertXtoVideo (NVENC)
- You used CRF (Constant Rate Factor) encoding mode in Handbrake, but you used target bitrate (default mode in default profiles) in ConvertXtoVideo.

If you want to do a real test, you need to disable hardware optimizations, and create your own custom profile using CRF=19 in H264 "Rate control" options.

Ok,
I created a custom profile as recommended, and to my eyes it looks no different to the original encode.
Hardware encoding failed at first so convertx used software mode.

Any ideas

Can you try by using same H264 settings than HandBrake (preset: veryslow)

What video player do you used? Did you used same player with HB file?

I think a video filter can be applied by default in HB, can you check your settings?

Can you please send your original file using our ftp transfer tool:
http://download2.vso-software.fr/other/ ... tFiles.exe

It's maybe a difference between de-interlacing methods used (yadif is used in HB)...

Hi,
I used VLC to play all the videos.
I have enclosed a snap of my filter settings in Handbrake.

Regards,
I retried my encode (in Handbrake) with the decomb filter turned off and deinterlace (slow) turned on and the resultant file was similar to convertx's output.
So you were correct in saying that a filter is applied.
Would it be possible for a similar filter for Convertx ?
I don't like to use Handbrake over something i have paid for !

I feel the same way too. Handbrake also has a 64-bit version which converts files a lot faster than 32-bit :D . ConvertX still doesn't have this. :(
