mkv file not burning

Post by mikeos »

Why can I not burn an MKV video file to DVD? When I try, I get an error message that a video file is not present, wnen it clearly is because I can watch it on VLC Media Player.

You can go to tools / burn an already converted file .... single file.
if you want this to be proposed each time after your conversion in the settings under "single file output" check the option to burn after conversion is finished.

Or maybe you have been able to burn the MKV but it does not play on your DVD player?

Maybe your DVD player does not support MKV.

See what codecs it supports by searching the model in google.
You can convert to DVD and that would certainly be supported or if anything try AVI (mp4 or divx)

thanks for the reply, but you misunderstand. I don't get as far as trying to play a disc on my DVD player. As I stated - when I load thie particular mkv file on ConvertX I immediately get under Titleset something like "No video present". There is apparently nothing to burn, but the file plays perfectly in VLC media Player.
