Forced subtitles

Post by Maikel »

is there a way to add 2 subtitles, both of the same language, and one of them be a forced subtitle?

I want that in the converted movie, the person be able to watch in english, or portuguese, and see the forced captions in the scenes when people talk another language that is not english. Mostly there are substitles made only to these foreign language scenes.

I found and option to add an extra subtitle stream, but i dont know how it works.

You can add several subtitles to same movie if container supports it. Most do.

To get what you want might require four subtitle files.

Example: original is in english, some parts in other language.
- you can add subtitles that have all dialogues in english.
- you can add subtitles that have only non-english dialogues.
- you can add subtitles that have any language.

All these can be selected to be shown but only one at the time. You can select which one is "default" so it will be shown if player has subtitles on.

You can also "burn" subtitles for those parts that need them, but those can not be removed and most likely will look bad with added subtitle track on top.
