What is FMP4 I want Xvid?

Post by thermalzombie »

Hi I am having difficulty converting files to Xvid I end up with a file that does no work on my Playstation 3 console that support Xvid.

I am unsure if this is a recent problem as the last version of VSO video converter worked I dont no if it has anything to do with the codec ID: FMP4 as I did not check the files I converted with the last version so though I would ask.

Here is the Profile I created in VSO video converter version 1.5.0.10.

---- Output container informations ----
* Name: AVI (Audio Video Interleave)
* File extension: avi

---- VIDEO track informations ----
Video stream will be encoded using these settings:
* codec: mpeg4 <<<<<<<<< Is this meant to be Xvid? I did choose xvid from dropdown.
* framerate: Same as source (if compatible)
* width: 624
* height: 352
* aspect ratio: 16/9
* max bitrate: 1000Kb/s (1.00Mb/s)

---- AUDIO tracks informations ----
Audio streams will be encoded using these settings:
* codec: mp3
* channel count: 2
* bitrate by channel: 64Kb/s (total: 128Kb/s)
* samplerate: Same as source (if compatible)Hz

---- SUBTITLE tracks informations ----
Subtitle streams will be encoded using these settings:
* Embed in video stream

Resulting file after converting specifications from Mediainfo.

Thanks for the reply can you tell me please where to find the logs? I am using windows 7 64bit.

I think the problem is related to codec ID's I found this program called AVI_FourCC_Code_Changer and I changed the codec ID's to XVID now the file works.

Sorry cannot post a link due to forum restrictions.

Here is the MediaInfo specs of the altered file that works.

I was also asked by VSO support to try a Playstation profile so I tried Playstation 3 - Mpeg4 Profile and the resulting file does not work iether Playstation 3 says unsupported data. I also mentioned this forum thread in my email reply to support.

Thanks for the reply's

Hi,

I tested the two profiles for PS3 in 1.5.0.11
and I confirm that the profile "playstation 3 - mpeg4" doesnt work on our playstation 3
but "playstation 3 - h264"

does this help?

Thanks Claire for the reply.

Just out of curiosity I converted one of the files I wish to convert to Xvid using the profile Claire mentioned above.

VSO Video Converter Version - 1.5.0.10
Playstation 3 - H264

And here is the resulting file from mediainfo also noticed that this file has a Codec ID/Info line that was missing from the file I onverted previosly maybe that is why the xvid profile I made didnt work.

Hopes this helps the developer.

The developer knows why the custom profile didn't work and it is fixed apparently fixed in an internal version here we have, but I don't know when it will be released as a beta version.
