weird audio

Post by vsonut »

OK...
2 movies of the .mpg format (mpg 4 that is).
2 computers (Windows 7 and Windows XP)
I get a weird audio distortion when converting to .3gp format.
I tried the default one (large), and custom.
...........
I attached a zip file with a portion of the audio from the converted and non converted file.
Also in the attached zip file is the ... "log file" from my trying to convert this last time.
It can't be OS related because of 2 different versions of windows.
The only relation is both are AMD dual core (Laptop=Win7 , PC=WinXP).
......
When listening to the files, you will be able to see what I mean (esp when getting to talking spots).
......
PLEASE, does anyone have an answer !!

Hello! Have you tried using another program to see if you get better results? If no, try a free program off the web and see what happens. Always good for comparing results.

Hello vsonut,

I would recommend downloading "MediaInfo", exporting the file's info, and uploading it here for a start. As well as you should post your log of your most recent conversion.

Thanks for reading,
Neil M

Hi Neil,

Thought about mentioning that, but judging from the file info he posted, I think these have already been through a converter of some kind, and a good bet the problem is the 'original' files. Might not be, but thought it a good idea to narrow it down with something else to compare and see if it does the same thing.

Cheers

Found a work-around, but it still needs fixed.
OK.. here is what happened.
1. Original file says audio is at ...... 224 Kbps .. for the Bit Rate.
2. Converted file says audio is at .... 10.4 Kbps .. for the Bit Rate.
3. Program set the audio bit rate to .... Use Original unless unable to do so.
.... Only thing I can figure is the program couldn't do the 224 Kbps, and for some ungodly reason
decided that the extremely low number of 10.4 Kbps was the only alternative.
..... This needs to be fixed to maybe gravitate to the NEXT lowest or highest from the list.
..... My workaround, was to BUMP the Bit Rate to 32000.
Works great, but without a FIX, you have to still convert the file and listen for the echo, then do the work-around, ORRRR.
Use a program to see a file's info ever single time before using the program (which is a pain for us lazy people).
...
Thanks to all who answered my thread and postings.

Logfile is outdated (from time I started the thread till now, so not so helpful).
BUT.... the profile I made I attached. Hope it helps someone else.
It didn't like attaching an XML, so used 7zip to contain it.

Maybe you should try 64000 for the audio bitrate at least then you will have 128 bitrate at 2 channel stereo.

At 32000 you are only getting 64 bitrate at 2 channel stereo that is pretty low for tv or movie.

Do you want to see if you still have the problem in our latest beta version?
http://forums.vso-software.fr/convertxt ... r-f51.html

If so would you upload one of the original video files if you still have one? I can provide instructions.
