Hello 0xdeadbeef,

Please, can you try to reproduce your issue with last published version (2.1.1.1)?

I'm waiting for your feedback...

Thank you!

Hi there and thanks for the fast reply.
The good news is that Battleship converted without issues with 2.1.1.1 (Cuda enabled, single-pass).
The bad news is that this success lured me into trying to convert another BD (Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol), but this one crashed pretty much immediately:

Code: Select all

Hi,

I think the problem can be with TRUE HD 7.1 channels audio track...
Can you retry with TRUE HD audio track (Deutsch) unselected?

Thank you!

Yeah, when I remove all TrueHD tracks, the conversion with 2.1.1.2 finished successfully. This left me with just the Japanese track though and as a side note: BD Converter 1.4.0.8 was able to convert the BD including the TrueHD track (had to switch off Cuda though as else the picture got completely green from some point).
Anyway, after the conversion was finished, I tried to watch the result with BD Converter still open ("what do you want to do next").
This resulted in a heavy crash (dunno if related to watching the DVD or just by chance):
  • Exception EAccessViolation in module BlurayConverterUltimate.exe at 00008468.
Access violation at adress 00408468 in module 'lurayConverterUltimate.exe'. Read of address 0621A294.
followed by
  • Access violation at address 005715D3 in module 'BlurayConverterUltimate.exe'. Read of address 00000010.
2.1.1.2 crashed immediately just as 2.1.1.1 btw.
Also, as a side note: the successfull conversion with 2.1.1.1 (Japanese track) resulted in just a little over 3GB. Even 400MB less than 1.4.0.8.
Missing the mark by ~1.4GB is not really an optimal result regarding picture quality.

@ 0xdeadbeef: 2.1.1.2 should be able to convert TRUEHD audio track. Have you tried to select it for conversion
Redownload the 2.1.1.2 installer then reinstall it first.

@ Julien: I will work on your problem on next week, thank you for your feedback...

Nope, crashes immediately as described above. I even tried it on another PC just for the sake of testing and it's the same.

@ 0xdeadbeef: Your problem with TrueHD 7.1 channels audio tracks should be fixed in current beta version 2.1.1.3 (I'm waiting for your feedback...)

@ Julien: I worked around the feature you want to use (split output in 2CD/DVD) and I found it's not compatible with simultaneous conversion. I can't found a fix at this time, I will work on this issue soon.
I removed splitted output target size items at this time, They will be back when I will found a workaround...

Now this looks promising. With 2.1.1.4, the conversion started. It will take another 50min or so to complete, but I'm pretty confident it will. Else I'll report later.
So thanks again for the support!

[EDIT]
Hm, the conversion ended without any issues, the result however seems to be unusable. Instead of creating some 1GB VOBs, this resulted in one giant 3.56GB VOB:

Code: Select all

05.09.2012 19:12 12.288 VIDEO_TS.BUP
05.09.2012 19:12 12.288 VIDEO_TS.IFO
05.09.2012 19:12 59.392 VIDEO_TS.VOB
05.09.2012 19:12 104.448 VTS_01_0.BUP
05.09.2012 19:12 104.448 VTS_01_0.IFO
05.09.2012 19:12 24.295.424 VTS_01_0.VOB
03.09.2012 22:33 0 VTS_01_1.VOB
03.09.2012 22:33 0 VTS_01_1_2.VOB
05.09.2012 19:07 3.820.435.456 VTS_01_1_2_3.VOB
As a side note: as mentioned before, this undersizing is a bit extreme. 3.58GB instead of ~4.3GB is quite a waste of space and it would help the conversion quality quite a bit if the result was closer to 4GB at least.

Please, clean your output folder manually before starting the conversion process.
It seems some hold files was not properly deleted before starting the new conversion.

Thanks.

Ok, when deleting the output folder manually, a playable DVD was created.
The output size is the same though (3.58GB).
Also BD Converter still crashes when trying to play the created DVD when the converter is finished, but still open.

What is your default player? What type of crash do you get? Can you post a screenshot? When you say it still opens, you mean Blu-ray Converter crashes but the player opens and plays the conversion?

I can't reproduce so far

When the conversion finished and BD Converter shows the "what do you want to do next" screen, I opened the VIDEO_TS.IFO with Media Player Classic (Home Cinema) externally and then BC Converter suddenly showed several exception dialogs.
However, when I tried to reproduce it today to make screenshots, it didn't happen of course.
Indeed I'm not even 100% sure if there is a connection between playing the created video and the exceptions, but I got quite a view of these semi-crashes after a successful concersion with BD Converter 2 lately.

Also, as another remark, I tried the two pass conversion again and it left a (temporary) file called "VTS_01_1.VOB.multipass" in the output folder which is obviously not intended. Besides, the two-pass encoder fails exactly as the one-pass encoder to use all the available space on a DVD5.
As the intention of a proper two-pass encoder is to optimize the bitrate, missing the mark by nearly 1GB makes the two-pass process kinda futile.
I'm not sure what exactly is going wrong there, but e.g. QEnc, which is based on the ffmpeg library as well, has a very decent VBR mode that hits the mark pretty much perfectly. So I'd really like a working two-pass mode, but not one that takes twice the time and delivers the same heavily undersized results as the one-pass mode.

Tried 2.1.1.4 with Galactica The Plan BR.
Set to no limit file size, mkv FullHD Cuda. Pressed convert - program crashed.
Is there still a problem with Cuda or was this just bad luck? Or because I tried to convert directly from actual BR disc with AnyDVD removing protection "on-the-fly"?
Then I used AnyDVD to copy whole BR to HD, restarted program, and Cuda is not selectable. Conversion with hardware setting is going fine, just takes about one hour to convert, using all my 4 cores fully.

Or is it because somehow program set cropping to video?

Can the New Blu-ray Converter and DVD Converter Version 2 be overinstalled over the previous version 1.4.0.8 or do we need to remove them first, or is the version 2 another standalone programe to run side by side the 1.4.0.8 versions. Thankyou :D
