How to disable subtitles

Post by balrog9 » Tue May 03, 2011 4:36 am

How do I keep convertxtodvd from using embedded subtitles? I have an .mkv file that apparently has hidden subtitles. I don't see them when I play the MKV but after conversion I get subtitles turned on and I don't want them but I cannot find an option to turn subtitle inclusion off.

All DVD players have subtitles-button, press that to turn them on or off.
Or set subtitle automatically off from player or CxD.
You can even delete subtitles before conversion from main CxD window.

It says "Click here to remove/add subtitle tracks" but clicking there does nothing.

MKV files often use embedded "soft subtitles". If, when viewing, you cannot turn the subtitles off or on, then they are "hard subtitles", burned onto the image, and cannot be removed or disabled. If they can be selected during play, then ConvertX gives you the option to use, delete or add "soft subtitles". Expand the file you've loaded into ConvertX with the "+" button next to the file name. This should show all the content that the file includes ... such as the subtitles. It will show how many soft subtitle streams (if any) are included. You can right click on a stream to delete it ... or right click on the "subtitle" line to add a subtitle.
