ConvertXtoDVD v4.1.16.360: Text-Profiles-Window "Cut Off"

Post by mue.mat » Sun Apr 17, 2011 10:44 am

Hello
I'm using the latest version ConvertXtoDVD v4.1.16.360.
This version has a problem with the Text-Profiles-Editor. While opening the text-profiles-window (= writing-styles-window) the lower part of this opening window is cut-off, that means I can't change the text profiles because there are missing several buttons, for example the "ok-button". This problem is new in v4.1.16.360 (older versions are working properly with text profiles).
Does anybody know about this problem (I'm still using windows xp, but I don't think this will be the cause of the problem)?
Thanks for your help or the announcement of a newer version, fixing the bug.

This is also the same bug for Windows 7. The window shows properly about a little more than 2/3 and then you get a grey rectangle that covers the OK button. You are really unable to change anything in your menu until this is fixed.

Sorry but I can't reproduce this.
I have Win7 64bit, and no problems opening that window.

What is your screen resolution?

My screen res is 1900x1080. I have an Acer laptop with 4 gb RAM an Intel Core I5 430M processor. This even happened with the pre release version. My OS is Windows 7 X64 HP. I had to go to an earlier version if I wanted to change anything in the menu. An image is enclosed to show you what the bottom looks like.

What settings do you have, that text is HUGE if your screen resolution is as you say.
Are you sure your laptop screen resolution is correct?
If you have set it to higher than what actual screen is then picture will go off-screen.

I tested on 1680*1050 screen and no problems as you can see from example.

My screen resolution ist 1920 by 1200 pixels, and the text is "normal" (not huge). This screen resolution fits best for my laptop and should't be any problem at all. Otherwise ConvertXtoDVD would "step backwards" (!?). I think this "window-cut-off" is a bug because in no older versions this problem showed up. As well it's possible to enlarge the grey rectangle, but the rectangle keeps empty (no buttons).

Okay. Compare my picture with your screen.
As you can see, that window is not filling whole screen, not even close, and all buttons are visible.
Grab screenshot of yours so that it shows whole screen, not just that one area.

I can't argue with this. It's a bug, face it. You are the only one so far that can't reproduce. I've worked with Claire before on issues with Convertx. Of course I'm sure my screen res is correct. 1900 x 1080 for a 18.4 inch screen. The text that you are claiming is huge is default for the menu I was using. As all these other people have said, there is a problem or these other good folks would not be writing in. If I go down to the last release before this I don't get the issue, so it has to be this release.

Hello,

Something I suggest trying is to detach part of the window. Put your mouse on the words "Text profiles" and drag and drop to the left so that it detaches from the screen. Now drag and drop it back in. Does this change the display?

I was having this problem after updating to new version a couple updates ago. I have my resolution set at 1680 x 1050 as recommended by the monitor specs. I saw in ConvertXtoDVD specs that it requires a DPI of 96. I was using a DPI set to 125% to make the letters bigger. I changed this back to 96 and the Text Editor was normal. I put it back to 125% and it broke. I found by trial and error that I could go as high 120% with no problem. I hope this helps.

It does have everything to do with the DPI. I had mine set to a Custom 124 to make letters easier on my 50 year old eyes and I did what you suggested and moved the DPI down to 119 and I could see the bottom of the box creeping down with it. I then went to a 100 default DPI and the box was normal. Now with that said, I still consider this a form of a bug because you are unable to increase your DPI w/o losing the full box. The older builds were just fine with the custom DPI which some of us need to exercise our tired old eyes.lol. Thanks for the answers Tom221. Very good troubleshooting.

Thanks Tom221, that is just what it seems to be.
That is why I wondered those huge letters!
CxD is not calculating actual window size correctly, it opens window for "normal" text settings, but when user has set windows to use bigger DPI then this problem might occur.
I just tried with XP and found that 800x600 screen is not big enough to open that screen properly, but 1024x768 is. This with default DPI.

It is still a bug as the previous builds didn't have this problem. Here is a screen of it now with the default DPI. Too small for me to keep it at this DPI. I'll just go back to the last proper build till/if this is fixed. Are you getting this Claire. It's only a problem if you are using an increased DPI.

You're right JULIO99, it does appear to be a bug. I have been using DPI set at 125% for some time with ConvertXtoDVD with no problem. I think it started 3 versions back. Any way this works for me. Glad to help.

Have you tried changing your monitor DPI settings like others in earlier posts have suggested? Doing so fixed the problem for them.
