[Solved] Slow Encoding - possible clue

Postby Mathimagics » Sat Mar 10, 2012 8:43 am

I have had regular problems with ConvertXtoDVD suddenly encoding extremely slowly compared to normal rates

Obviously many others have experienced similar problem.

On my system normal encoding is around 135 fps, when the mysterious problem occurs it drops to 3 fps!

There is no CPU competition CPU is 96% idle.

How did I cure this? I just rebooted, and hey presto, encoding rate is back to normal!

Since no other software that I use exhibits this symptom, could the VSO tech people have a think about what the heck is going on here?

Conversion log might reveal something.
If it does not - then something else is slowing your system and is removed by reboot.

But slowing system only wrt ConvertX, no other software?

And leaving no visible memory or CPU footprint?

There are numerous issues that can cause some program to slow.
With CxD usual cause is sourcefile, it can be damaged, reserved or protected. Other issues are fragmentation of hd and/or ram.
