AVIDeMux? Are you sure you got the right thing? It's free. Did you try to get it from the Microsoft Store? The Microsoft Store version is not the official one. Don't give them your money. The software is free.

Re: files not showing in left hand window pane , files not showing.
Is this repeatable or just on a few files? If it's just a few files, it could be the input source files are "corrupt" or not authored correctly. CXD will sometimes silently fail on input. If this is repeatable over time, then someone more tech savvy with the software will have to chime in....

Re: Trying to write on 8.5GB DVD+R DL?
Have you always used the same DVD+R DL or have you switched to different ones? Also, what kind DVD+R DL are you using? Verbatim Life Series? (NOT DataLife Plus.) If you're using pretty much anything other Verbatim DataLife Plus (NOT Life Serires.) DVD+R DL, you will generally regret it, either with ...

Re: Remove root menu in the Episodes in Template TV Series
I believe the Audio and Subtitles are only accessible within the child menu of each Title. I don't believe there's a way to put such buttons on the main menu. However, when playing the DVD, if you change the audio or subtitle tracks on one Title's menu, it makes the change universal until you change...

Re: Conversion problem
I would also try a test conversion of just the one episode you said wasn't processing on its 2nd pass. You appeared to indicate the other 3 or 4 episodes did process on its 2nd pass. If it fails on just that one episode, you could try various things, but I'd first try converting that one episode to ...

Re: ConvertXtoDVD 7
First, import a video file for a Title. In the right hand pane of information, there's a tab on the bottom that has a stopwatch on it. This is the Chapters tab. Press the Clear all chapters button. That should do what you want if I understand your request correctly. Unless you meant you want a DVD t...

Re: I'm looking for some VHS to DVD converter advice, any subreddits that could help with that?
To answer the first part of your question, it depends on how you're recording the VHS tape to DVD. Around 20 years ago, Panasonic released the first DVD Video Recorder. It and subsequent manufacturers and models had different video quality settings you could use. VHS quality meant you could record 2...

Re: Cannot remove ghost video playing on finished DVD menu screen
Line In is very unreliable. I once tried to record a 2 hour Dr. Demento Show that way. But, any kind of use of the HDD, which was the target for recording, caused the audio to drop out repeatedly over the entire length of the recording. I stopped using Line In once I developed the method to video ta...

Re: Cannot remove ghost video playing on finished DVD menu screen
I used CXD to make DVD's out of my father's funeral service and of my grandmother and grandfather on my mother's side. They all died before they started releasing recordings of the services on CD; they were on audio cassettes. So, I copied the cassettes to VHS by connecting my tape player, which is ...

Re: Cannot remove ghost video playing on finished DVD menu screen
Well, given the extremely old age of CXD 4, I don't know if this will help you or not. However, this is what I think you need to do on CXD 7 to remove video from a menu. Edit Menu --> Advanced Edit --> Right click anywhere on the menu that isn't a button or a title field and choose Edit background -...

Re: Conversion failed
Ah, my AVIDeMux solution probably wouldn't have worked here unless you changed Audio from Copy to some other compression so some kind of conversion would be done. My suggestion only affected the Video.

Re: Conversion failed
Those steps with AVIDeMux are what I use when I have a problematic file that won't convert in CXD. I do a lot of conversion of my VHS tapes to DVD. This produces a raw source that CXD sometimes chokes on. So, it must be converted to a different container with different software. However, even those ...

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
As I said, it's good, whatever works. In the future, though, it is my sage advice. :) When in doubt, first reboot. For any and all issues where you can reboot, try rebooting first. You'd be amazed at how many times the seemingly most complex issues can be fixed with so simple a thing as rebooting. I...

Re: Conversion failed
It seems the input file with the partial name Playboy After Dark - S02E13 - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Marty Ingels, Noel Harrison - 1970-02-20 is the culprit. It's probably not authored correctly. Given it's name, it sounds like this file may have been downloaded? I'd say about 25% of down...

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
A reboot shouldn't have mattered, but whatever works works!
Did you try rebooting the system any time since reporting this CXD issue here? It may have simply just been an issue where a reboot may have fixed the problem. When it doubt, first reboot. :)

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
I did some searching. I have 3 VSO folders that would apply directly to the program execution in this case:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VSO
C:\ProgramData\VSO
C:\Users\<My Windows Account Name>\AppData\Roaming
C:\Program Files (x86)\VSO

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
That / could be a typo. It depends upon if the error message is one that the programmers typed in or if the program is piping in the folder name from somewhere else and it's getting a / in there, which could result in a problem depending on the program logic. Well, I THINK, and this is how stupid th...

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
One thing I noticed before is "ProgramData/VSO." Folders cannot have a / in their names. It must be \. The folders in question would be in the User folder and not the Program Files (x86) one, most likely. To check for Read Only, right click on a folder in File Explorer and choose Propertie...

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
That's where I'd start, at least. With uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Then, proceed to make sure those AppData, etc. folders actually exist where they say they should be. And, if they are, make sure the folders aren't Read Only or contain any Read Only files.

Re: Critical Working Folder Cannot be Accessed or is Not Writable
I've used every gold release of CXD 7.x, including 0.69 which I'm on now. Every job I've saved in 7.x has been compatible with 0.69.
