Re: Why get the new VSO Video Converter?

definitely! Listening to customer feedback and responding accordingly is absolutely one of VSO's strong points :)

Re: Ripping 5:3 ratio from dvd to mkv results in black borde

New info: I have been able to consistently reproduce the bug with black borders appearing in the previewed and converted files when adding dvd folders via the "Add file(s)", "Load from DVD structure", "Browse..." menu. It appears when you browse to a different PARENT fo...

Re: Ripping 5:3 ratio from dvd to mkv results in black borde

** update ** I started converting the other dvds in the sequence and wanted to replicate the issue above but I've been unable to do so with either the new dvds or the same one that was originally giving trouble. I tried restarting the program and now either the Browse or picking from the reciently u...

Re: Feature Request: Shortcut key, menu and selection colour

No worries on the delay - it's quite obvious from the latest version that ye have been doing quite a bit of work on the product. It's a good thing :-) As far as what I originall reported, I can vouch for the fact that the general usability of how selections are handled is much improved and the sugge...

Re: Ripping 5:3 ratio from dvd to mkv results in black borde

so close... This is nearly resolved in v1.1.0.20 - and it's obvious ye have been putting in a lot of work to try and resolve this. Don't think we haven't noticed - keep it up guys! :-) I like the new stretch tool. This gives a good compromise when removing the black borders though does result in a s...

Re: Ripping 5:3 ratio from dvd to mkv results in black borde

I've been playing around with the settings for the video stream when editing an episode before conversion and there are Stretch settings that perform various scaling on the video. Perhaps an "easy" option would be to add the ability to custom crop the video stream, not just stretch it. It ...

Feature Request: Shortcut key, menu and selection colour

VSO Video Converter is, by and large, one of the best pieces of conversion software out there. It is however let down by one or two little things. The problem I run into most frequently (nearly every time I use it) is that there is no (I think) support for shortcut keys. E.g., when selecting several...

Error setting path

I've been getting this error (see attached) for several versions (1.0.0.32+) which occurrs when I click on the first tab in the Video Editor dialog. It's quite possible this started appearing when I tried one of the beta builds earlier in the month. However, I have tried completely uninstalling VSO ...

Re: Ripping 5:3 ratio from dvd to mkv results in black borde

Thanks Cedric, appreciated. See attached for the log file on the conversion shown in the screenshots. It's possible that the borders are actually encoded into the dvd itself and that the dvd players I use automatically detect and crop accordingly. If that's the case then I guess the option to auto-c...

Original format: unconverted dvd Destination format: mkv xvid/divx (tried both) Log files: I'd supply them if I could find them. Tried <user>\Documents, <user>\appdata\local, <user>\appdata\roaming, <user>\appdata\locallow, "\program files (x86)\VSO\VSO Video Converter" (all sub-folders). ...

Re: Missing end of episode

If you're looking to test with something I'd recommend getting a physical copy of "XMen 1.5" - or any movie where you can watch a "normal" version or "Theatrical" or "Directors cut" version on the same disc. The setup is such that you can play two versions - o...

Re: Missing end of episode

Specifically, I'm trying to convert my set of XFiles dvds (all 9 seasons worth, inc. movies) - it's a lot of data. However, on these discs, on some of them at least, there are the usual "special features" and "deleted scenes" you see sometimes. The deleted scenes are parts of epi...

Re: Missing end of episode

I've watched many of the converted episodes over the last while and I finally have more info on the cause of this. It seems that the episodes that are most out of whack are ones with may deleted scenes. At a guess I'd day that the "track info" is the play time for the episode sans extra de...

Re: Converting one file deletes all files in the folder

@Cedric, cool, look forward to trying it! It's great to get such a prompt response to the bug/feature requests - the software has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see it evolve :-) Keep up the good work!

Re: User info: Table of conversion speeds (incomplete, no CU

@Cougar, I can't tell if that's sarcasm, but the reason I mentioned using CloneDrive to emulate the ISO is because Video Converter crashes with a memory exception when I try to open one directly. As for generating the ISOs, there is legitimate reason for creating them, namely to prevent several thre...

User info: Table of conversion speeds (incomplete, no CUDA)

Hi all, I just wanted to post my experiences to date of gettign the most from the software with my not having an NVidia card to help speed things along. I want to post an (incomplete) table of figures for a small few file types that I've tried to convert from. Some of the convrsions take quite some ...

Converting one file deletes all files in the folder

I had converted 3/4 episodes on a disk and was experimenting with different encoding formats on the last episode to get a faster speed (it takes 1+ hour to convert an episode and I have a very powerful PC :-S). However, when I cancelled the conversion of #4 half way through, the option to "clea...

Re: Missing end of episode

I found a solution that works. By cutting out the credits manually at the end of each episode, the episode gets ripped correctly. Bizarly, I noticed that the final file size is nearly twice what it was. At least I can rip the episodes ok but the software has a little fine-tuning needed
