If you are trying to wring the most quality from a conversion of an unknown, try two quality settings and compare them rather than guess which setting is best. Actually, if you try High and it fills the target to 95% or more, additional compression has been used to fit to target and generally you n...

Grr..i've come to the conclusion that there is NO way to stop the 'video reduction' to 720x480.

Will this issue ever be addressed? What I mean is, will we ever have control over this aspect of the conversion process?

Yeah, I actually treat each movie individually when thinking about settings now...not just runtime, but the quality of the print, overall detail of the print, etc... as for animation..if its something like 'family guy'..i keep the settings high..but for a pixar movie ...medium black&white movies ARE...

After doing multiple tests I have come to the conclusion that you were perfectly right about using 'medium' setting for 2+ hour movies. It's funny, because sometimes the total space used after conversion might only be 1.7 or 2 gigs...and of course my BRAIN thinks that because the SIZE is tiny, the r...

Video Resizing/Video Processing

I have an interesting question. I own a widescreen 1080p tv (46") Normally, when converting my hd/bluray mkv files, i select LETTERBOX...which automatically converts the vid to 720x480... BUT, a lot of these files are 1280x720 originally. Since my TV can handle that AR, is there any way to KEEP that...

So the quality of the file actually encoded is nowhere near that of the original HD. In fact, it is lower than what one would get from ripping the same movie from a commercial DVD because of inaccuracies in resampling. Actually, i have found it much better than a commercial DVD. (not hd or bluray) ...

I echo cougar's suggestion to COPY one of those files from F: to C: and try again. Although I don't currently have an external drive, i DO have Vista. I'm thinking that somehow Vista has restricted rights to that drive because she is not Admin (???)...sounds really weird tho. Perhaps checking the pr...
