Re: Quick question

I am guessing the OP meant they got a bad batch of TDK 8x DVD-R's. That a new supply they tried worked fine. But, maybe not. :)

Re: Latest updates not respecting smart copy settings

What exactly are the smart copy settings? I don't believe I know what those are.

Re: Quick question

That's... odd. A BIOS update generally wouldn't address a single media type issue. A drive's firmware update would, but a BIOS update would generally only update issues with all media you'd be using.

Re: Quick question

I've found TDK to be generally higher class media. I burned some about 20 years ago that I recently read back in to image files with ImgBurn to reburn on Verbatim DataLife Plus AZO series. They all read in fine. And their CD-R's are still readable after 20 years, too. Since it seems these same TDK D...

Re: Quick question

I would be interested to see what ImgBurn has to say on these TDK 8x DVD's. I don't let CXD burn my projects, just create VIDEO_TS output that I then use ImgBurn to burn to DVD-R. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say it's some kind of bug in CXD since other DVD's work. However, it could be specif...

Re: Weird Problem

You would need to do the copy in Windows/File Explorer I mentioned to really check for CSS. If you just "played" the DVD's in PC software, that would automatically decrypt any existing CSS, so it's not possible to determine if the discs are or aren't CSS protected just by playing them in P...

Re: Weird Problem

The issue is most likely false positives from the vinpower unit. If you want to check if there really is CSS on these DVD's, copy the VIDEO_TS contents from the discs in File Explorer to a temporary location and attempt to open VIDEO_TS.IFO from that folder in some PC player software. If the DVD pla...

Re: Weird Problem

What actually is telling you the disc CXD made is CSS protected? It has to be some software interface telling you this.

Re: Conversion Impossible With Current Encoding

Generally, there should be an option where it says currently impossible to convert to choose DVD-9 as the output, if it isn't already selected. If you're given that option and haven't set that yet, try that. Even though it sometimes says you need DVD-9 for output, the VIDEO_TS CXD generates may stil...

Re: Audio channels - why 2?

The only explanation I can think of is your source material had both audio tracks in it. Either the VIDEO_TS used as a source or a container file. Plus, I know Panasonics have had compatibility issues in the past with some DVD's. I've had pressed DVD's that Panasonics wouldn't even recognize as inse...

Re: 7.0.0.83

As of now, the most common cause of files that cannot be loaded is because the source file in question is an x265 codec file and CXD 7 does not support those because it's a 32 bit application; a 64 bit application is needed to convert those. Do a search on the forum for VSO's x265 to x264 converter ...

Re: Green bars on preview and output

I already had 2 pass encoding disabled. Years ago, I discovered if 2 pass encoding was enabled, green video was even worse! On some videos, the CXD output would be 30 seconds of solid green with no audio at the beginning. Then, the output would resume playback at the 30 second point with the previou...

Green bars on preview and output

I've got a file that is causing issues with CXD. When Previewed or viewing CXD's output of this file, there are green bars on the far right side. If you play the file in Media Player Classic Home Cinema, the bars are not present. I've isolated a brief clip from the source file for anyone who wants t...

Re: Is it possible to run two or more sessions at the same time

I think there is a hardcoded limit of 5 simultaneous instances allowed by CXD. My memory is if you try to open a 6th instance of CXD, it simply never opens.

Re: Is it possible to run two or more sessions at the same time

I have had 5 different instances of the software doing conversions at the same time in the past. The software tended to be a bit sluggish, but it was working. However, all of these were creating to differently named folders on an HDD. If you were attempting to burn to DVD after a conversion was comp...

Re: conversion cancelled by user

In VSO's defense, it does plan to release a 64 bit version of CXD, which is necessary for it to handle 265. Version 8 will be 64 bit and can process 265. However, VSO, to my knowledge, still only has the one programmer working on all of its applications. So, work has progressed slowly and will conti...

Re: conversion cancelled by user

Oh, that's what it was! H265, not 264. 264 is compliant, but not 265. You had to convert down to 264 with 265 files. That's why my AVIDeMux x264 conversions worked.

Re: conversion cancelled by user

Probably some h264/265 files in the mix. VSO has a conversion tool for those types of files to get them compliant with CXD's current version. Search for it on their website and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, I would try converting each one one at a time in CXD by themselves to see which fi...

Re: problems abound

To test the drive itself, you could make an investment in a USB burner. Then, you can test your discs on that. If you get, say, 3 or 5 good burns on these Riteks on the USB drive, then you can probably say it's the other burner at fault. However, if the discs fail on the USB drive, it could also mea...

Re: problems abound

If you want to keep using the Ritek discs you've invested in and want to put off replacing the drive if possible because of the cost, there may be a free fix, if it's available. Check for a firmware update for your drive. A new firmware update might update the write strategies for Ritek media for yo...
