Re: Can't disable subtitles
So, you're saying when you start playing a ConvertXToDVD disc, subtitles are automatically turned on and you don't want that behavior? Try and see if this setting is enabled and, if it is, disable it. Default Settings --> Subtitles --> Always display a subtitle track on playback If that boxed is che...

Re: Conversions stops @ 98.7% says 2 minutes remaining
How many titles were in your project when you got the 98% stuck? What I do in situations like this is determine how many of the files had completed 100%, if any. You know those files completed successfully. Then, try again, but only add the remaining titles and try again. Then, I begin isolating ind...

Re: Dual layer video length
The whole 2 hours on DVD-5 and 4 hours on DVD-9 are leftover descriptions from the days of DVD video recorders. Standard video compression would yield 2/4 hours, but you could go for 1/2 hours on a better than VHS quality and get even 4 and 6 hour discs on DVD-5 with far less quality video. And ther...

Re: Using a long video to create separate titles
Another thing I might do is converting the video tape to some kind of container like MP4 or something like that (Which may mean converting the video tape to VIDEO_TS first and then to container) and then using AVIDeMux to edit the source container to remove the bits from the beginning and ending I w...

Re: Using a long video to create separate titles
The way I would do this is create the 90 minutes by recording it as one long 90 minute video. Then, say, you want to create 3 separate titles from this 90 minutes. You add the 90 minute video three times and then use the Trim function to remove the bits from the beginning and end of each entry. Of c...

Re: Encoded video to dvd-9 and 5 video ghosting badly
I'd change the output, if you don't have it set this way, to create to VIDEO_TS folders instead of ISO/burning output directly. Then, I'd try playing the VIDEO_TS folder as a DVD in some software that supports playing IFO files. Like Windows Media Player on older Windows versions or something like P...

Re: too many subtitles
Near as I remember, you don't save a whole lot of space by taking out the subtitles. So, you'll probably not achieve a desirable size by removing subtitles, unless there are a lot of subtitle streams in the source. Anyway, to remove subtitles, I think you do the following: Where it says Audio on the...

Re: Trying to write on 8.5GB DVD+R DL
Verbatim DVD+R DL is the only reliable double layer DVD media out there. If Taiyo Yuden makes DVD+R DL, which as far as I knew it didn't, that would probably be quality media, too. I also had good results with TDK's, but I don't know if they still make them. For over 10 years, I've used mostly Verba...

Re: Encoding and copying to dvd
It's not unusual to require a double layer DVD from time to time. It depends on the length of a title you're trying to convert and how it was compressed originally to begin with. You can either 1.) use a DVD+R DL for this project or 2.) instead of putting all 3 video files in one project, split it a...

Re: Conversion problem
I use Any Video Converter Free for such instances. Sometimes, a file just doesn't work, but converting it to another format works. AVIDeMux, another free utility, is something else I also use to convert files to another format when ConvertXToDVD chokes on the source file.

Re: Conversion problem
Years ago, I used to use 2 pass encoding, but I stopped doing it then. A bug was introduced into 2 pass encoding that caused the first few seconds of video to be solid green on all projects. I reported it, but tech support said they couldn't recreate it. I could, however, on all projects, and restor...

I feel the same way. Nero became bloatware and I've not used their products for like 15 years. Same with Norton.

Re: Is there a sound event for operation complete if
You should get some kind of audio that says "OPERATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED" even if you're just writing the files to VIDEO_TS on your HD. I never burn DVD's, just always write to VIDEO_TS on my HD. And I always get the audio saying the operation has been completed. You may want to go into y...

Re: Problem converting MKV file
Also, try using conversion software to convert the MKV to another file container format like MP4. I've often had CXD bomb out on MKV files that worked fine when converted to MP4. Doesn't always work, but it's worth a try.

Re: VRO load/conversion error
Every other VRO I've ever fed into ConvertXToDVD, including one I made just a few weeks ago, works fine. And they were all made by the same Panasonic recorder. Turns out it's something intrinsic in this one VRO. I made a smaller test VRO with 4 2 minute recordings and CXD imported that VRO fine. The...

VRO load/conversion error
I submitted this bug through the bug reporting tool in 7.0.0.68, but I've discovered some more pertinent information that invalidates a previous statement I made. There's an error when importing certain VRO files for conversion. I had a near 2 hour of contents on a VRO, but the software was only imp...

Re: Unable to convert video file
I've often found files that fail to load for conversion can be gotten to load by saving the file as another file type format. Like from MKV to MP4. I use AVIDeMux for such a thing.

Re: First few seconds of video files missing
In AVIDeMux, did you try changing the target format file type to something like MKV? If that still doesn't work for these problematic files, try instead of using Copy for the Video format, try changing it to something like MPEG 4 AVC (x264). Sometimes "recompiling" by saving an entirely ne...

Re: First few seconds of video files missing
Yes, the only solution I found to these problematic MP4's is to load them in AVIDeMux and save them again as a new MP4 or a new file type format. No other changes need to be made in AVIDeMux when saving these MP4's to a new MP4. It may not work for you, but you can try it for yourself and see if it ...
