problem "burning an already converted project"

Postby psychomajic666 » Fri Sep 04, 2009 9:24 pm

This happened before. I uninstalled, reinstalled about 5 times & it started working (after messing up about 10 disks).

Now out of nowhere it's done it again. The burner sounds like it's starting up then stopping over & over.

Nothing was changed, all my settings are exactly the way I've had them.

My drivers are updated & the burner is working, as I tested burning a disk using other software.

Why is my ConvertXToDVD doing this? It was working last night & as I said - nothing was changed.

hope this helps.

Again, I put in a blank DVD, chose "burn already converted project", & the progress bar wouldn't move & the drive sounded like it was starting up & stopping continuously.

I thought I'd ad this one because it might shed some light as to what's going on.

I noticed it noted a "minor warning" (whatever that could be)....

You're posting today, Sept. 4, but your log is for attempts back on August 31.

Exactly. Noone answered my question then so I reposted it today.

So back to my question.

What could be preventing my software from recognising my burner?

First, you don't have to repost the same issue. Just add another post to your existing thread to "bump" it up.

Second, your software does recognize your burner, as shown from your log:

2009-08-31 17:56:59 Info BURN: New Drive selected : 1:1:0 - ATAPI DVD A DH16A6L-C ZHCG [E] (Scsi)

My first thought would be that it has problems working with a SCSI drive, but I can't say that for a fact.

My first suggestion is to download the free ImgBurn and try to burn the converted video with it. If that works, it will at least show that the issue is with the ConvertX burning engine.

If ImgBurn works, my next suggestion would be to completely remove ConvertX using the VSO Clean tool available on their site (and I believe a link to it is in one of the Stickies), download the latest version of ConvertX, reinstall, and try again. I don't think you have the latest updated version (I use v.2 so can't confirm).

Please report back once you've tried these options.

I've been using Cyberlink DVD Suite to burn after ConvertXToDVD would not burn anymore. So I'm certain by burner works, it's just CXTDVD.

My burner used to say (Raid) where it now says (Scsi). I don't know why this changed or how to set it back to whatever had it working before.

You're using v.2? The version I'm using is 3.8.0.193

I can't say why your burner would show a change in identification, but maybe somebody else can help you there.

Yes, I use v.2.2.3.258, which is the latest v.2. I don't need fancy menu stuff. I put one video on one DVD-5, and I create my own background image for the menu image, which is usually created from the DVD cover so already has the film Title, to which I often add the names of the main actors - all done in a graphic editor. So all I need to show on the Menu image with ConvertX is the word "Play" - unless I add extras, in which case I do two menu items, the second saying "Extras". So I've never bothered upgrading because it doesn't give me anything else I need :-)

By the way, I've never had burner issues, DVD playback issues, or any other issues with my ConvertX version and using Taiyo Yuden DVD-5 media :-)

Well, thanks for the help anyway.

I might check out some older versions & try my luck on those.
