possible bug in the manual

Postby Blitter » Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:04 pm

I found a possible bug in the manual.
Search for "add"
3rd hit: File menu

"-You can also use the drag and drop function to add a file into Tree View window. See this link:"

That link is dead.

For me drag and stop stopped working in v4.
I can drag a file. When I move over the window a little + sign is shown near the mouse pointer. Standard and correct behavior.
But when I drop the file nothing happens.
Not even some error.
The only way I can add is using the green + button..
I hope this will be fixed in a later release

You are right.
Will be fixed in next release.

The link should open the topic: Add drag / drop. (Main Window view -> Add drag / drop)

thank you

hello,

you can only drag and drop from windows explorer.

If you click on the + icon, and the new browser window opens, you must select the file and press the button open, to add to convertxtodvd. Once you clicked on the + icon and the new browser window opened you cannot use it to drag and drop files into the treeview (this function never existed)

That's not what I'm trying to say Claire.

Using the + icon does work.
Drag and drop from the Desktop works.
Drag and drop from windows explorer works.

But.....
I never use windows explorer because it lacks functionallity.
I use: http://www.gpsoft.com.au/
And that doesn't work anymore

It did work for many ConvertX2DVD versions. Then suddenly it stopped working after ConvertX2DVD was updated. (not Directory Opus)
From that I conclude that the drag and drop functionality of ConvertX2DVD has changed.

I hope that explaination clears up any confusion.

There is a huge possible issues here.
Windows has changed in numerous ways, so that might be one thing.
DOpus uses Windows routines (or installs itself instead of some Windows routines) and those routines have been changed.
This change itself might not have been big enough to stop CxD from working with DOpus, but at some point it has done it. Small changes do make difference at some point.

What can be read on CxD release notes - there is no change that should break d&d functions. VSO might be able to find why this is happening, but if it is not their fault then they most likely will not even try to fix it as it might cause problems to all other users.

I used DOpus last when it was in v4 with my Amiga. It was good then - but even then there came problems when OS was updated...

I'll go along with what jj said. My suggestion: Uninstall DOpus.

The combination windows, Dopus and CxD works.
No updates on windows and Dopus.
CxD changes and it stops working. Then you blame Dopus and claim VSO can't fix the problem because that might cause problems for other CxD users.
First of all when CxD worked with Dopus it also worked for other CxD users. So that's no argument.
I'm using Dopus for several years now and never had any issues with it.
That includes drag and drop to every application I use.

Sorry JJ but your conclusion is based on nothing. I could just as well say CxD got more and more incompatible with windows at every update.
But for now I just assume it's a little bug that crept in.

Not 100% sure about the following:
At a certain release VSO mentioned changes weer made in the drag and drop part. But I can't find that message.

JoeB: LOL

@Blitter do you want an older version of ConvertXtoDVD if you are convinced it is related to ConvertXtoDVD v4?

earlier version of version 4 or version 3?
