For what it's worth ...
I tried last three versions and found no fault with compilation of project, or burning. I get no errors during conversion, though.
Seems to me like ...
1. Bad burning .. could be caused by system/low resources
2. Media
3. Home player firmware
What home player is this exactly? _________________ Peace ... Bags. |

System: Sony VAIO PSV-RS320, 2.6GHz Processor, 3 GB RAM, DVD Writer HP 640 External, writing from the "D" partition of a 120GB Western Digital HDD.
I cannot see how system resources are low since ALL the recordings that I do are primarily with the same configuration and there is no other processes running when compiling a project or when burning a CD/DVD.
The home player is:
Pioneer DVD Player, Model DVD-343 Twin Wave Laser Pickup, 96khz 24 bit D/A Converter. There is no problems playing ANY disc disc (recorded Cd, DVD, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, or ANY original disc). When recording I turn off everything that I think will interfere with the recording process thereby dedicating all available resources to the recording process only.
Thanks for your assistance.

the problem is your DVD RW not being compatible with your home player.
Try to burn onto a different disk and you should not have this problem |

Claire,
I have use different DVDs (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW) and I still get the same result. I tried most recently to burn the project to a disc using a Verbatim DVD-R and the disc would not play at all on any units in the house (two Desktops computers, a laptop, or the home player). The DVD RWs have been used previously for recording purposes and have ALWAYS played on the home unit without any problems. I will try compiling a NEW project and burn it to a Maxell DVD-R and see how that works. Once I have completed it and verified it I will post the results.
Thanks for your assistance.

Claire,
When I burned the project onto a Maxell DVD-R the end results is exactly the same as previously noted. The project stops at all the previously noted times and chapter changes. Any further troubleshooting or suggestions?

I would try any burned projects in TWO other DVD players. If they are on DVD-RW, make sure those players support it. _________________ Peace ... Bags. |

| Burn a compiled project (VIDEO_TS folder) with Imgburn(freeware) to see if the problem in the burning part is. |

Hansk,
I did exactly what you suggested; I downloaded Imgburn 2.5.0.0, installed it, and burned a project to a Verbatim DVD-R 16X/120mins/4.5GB disc. The project burned without any problems, however, when I played it on my home DVD Player I had the same results as noted in the original post. The problems occurred at the exact same times and intervals. I have play the recorded project in the DVD Writer where the project was written using PowerDVD, VLC, and Windows Media Player and it works fine without any problems. I also played the recorded project in the internal Toshiba Writer/Player DVD-ROM SD-R5002 and it played completely through without any problems. Any further suggestions? Another question: is there a limit on how many audio files that can be added to a particular playlist? I know you can add several audio files to a playlist but does the program restrict the quantity per playlist? The tutorial/live video guide on how to use PhotoDVD 3 included with the program only indicates two files added to a playlist but I know that more than two files can be added because this project contains three audio files in one playlist.
Thanks for your assistance.

Hi,
From the above results i conclude that there is no problem with the compiling and burning as that several software players play the burned DVD without problems. Everything is contained in the files.
But as that your home cinema does not plays it, i suspect your Home cinema set has a problem. What, I don't know.
Go with the burned disc to some relatives/friends/neighbour and check the playability of the disc on other home cinema sets.
Your question about playlist amount, i don't know. Only the developer can answer.
Cedric(VSO developer), please answer this question. |

Thanks for the info. I will try your suggestion and let you know the results. I do not know exactly when but I will let you know.

After some overthinking I think the playlist is infinitive. It is just a list where all audio files were found and in what sequence they should be used.
The program will only use that audio what "time matches" with the created video.
A 10min. slideshow(video) will have only the first 10 min. audio from your playlist. It joins video with audio into a VTSxx_xx.VOB file (stand alone DVD player playable)
It will either use the in the playlist available audio numbers for the time length of the slideshow duration or use the numbers again if you are short on audio. |

Hansk,
Thanks for the update on number of audio files that can be added to a project.

To All,
An update to my dilemma on Video Freezes and Music is Distorted During Playback; I have downloaded, installed, and compiled a new project using PhotoDVD ver. 3.1.0.2 today. I played the slideshow on my home unit. I added five audio tracks to the #1 playlist bringing my slide show to 52 minutes and 56 seconds. There are some new wrinkles to this fabric:
The disc appeared to play just fine until the following happened:
1. Chapter 5 changeover 8 minute mark audio stopped slide show continued.
2. Chapter 9 changeover 16 minute mark both audio and slide show stopped.
3. Chapter 13 changeover 24 minute mark both audio and slide show stopped.
4. Chapter 18 changeover 32 minute mark both audio and slide show stopped.
5. Chapter 20 midway thru 38 minute mark audio stopped slide show continued.
6. Chapter 24 changeover 45 minute 57 secs both audio and slide show stopped.
The audio tracks totals 19 minutes and 15 seconds and loops within the playlist as it is suppose to without any problems.
Note that each time something abnormal happens it appears to occur around a chapter changeover and for the first four abnormalities occurred at approximately 8 minutes apart. Using previous versions the abnormalities occurred a approximately 2 minutes apart. There has definitely been some improvement in version 3.1.0.2 but I am still having problems with it.
Thanks for your assistance.

Personally I can't find much wrong with this version now ... just interface issues.
Yours is for sure a hardware problem, not software. _________________ Peace ... Bags. |
