When I try to resize images using my computer using Windows 7 64-bit and select "resize original", the original file is not overwritten. I am left with the resized file and the original. When using Windows 7 32-bit, I have no problem. I tried the beta version 3 with the same results.

No problems here on x64. What are the filenames of your original and the resized copy?
Can you post the log?

The two files that remain are the one original size file with the original file name and another file with the original file name plus another line under it with the size of the file. This is the same thing you get when you select "make copies". Strange thing that happens, however. When I go back and select "make copies" instead of "resize original", then resize the image and then go back and select "resize original", I will get a message "Image Resizer Conflict, there is already a file with the same name in this location" and select "overwrite", then the original file is not saved. However when I resize the next picture, I then get two files, the original and the resized one. I have made sure that the command is still "resize original when I do subsequent picture resizing. It is like it does not remember the "resize original" command even though it says "resize original". Also, I noticed that there is no "save current options as default" in the settings menu with my 64 bit computer, but this option is present with my 32 bit computer. All I have with my 64 bit system is "General, Language and About". I am guessing that this is the bug.

I assume you don't have the same version on both machines, because "save as default" was removed from version 3. It now remembers the settings automatically once you click OK.

Please make sure you use the latest version on both machines:

I deleted version 2 from my laptop (which runs Windows 32 bit) and installed version 3. Now my laptop also produces two copies (the original and one that has the resolution printed below it) even though I have "resize original" in the action box. I get the message "The current action (Resize Original) will permantly modify all selected image files. But when I hit the "OK" button I am still left with the original as well as the modified file. So I appear to have the same problem with both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 when using version 3.

Phil,

When you are making the changes to correct this bug, I would like to make a suggestion. Add an option box that says "do not show this warning again" to the warning that warns you that the original image will be overwritten. I'm sure a lot of people like myself do not want to save the original image, and this would save an additional step by not having to manually close the warning box every time you re-size a picture.

Please try this new version:

The program now does not produce the original and resized image. I checked the box to not show the warning again, but now I get a message that appears to be a Windows message: Image Resizer - Conflict. There is already a file with the same name in this location. This window then has to be closed. I did not get this message before, is there a way to eliminate this warning?

The overwrite prompt did appear before as well. It's a kind of safeguard whenever files are overwritten. I could skip this in case files are meant to be overwritten anyway.

But you confirm the rest is working now?

Yes, it appears to work OK other than the overwrite warning.
