1) I only get about 1 fps when encoding using software only. Handbrake gives me 19 fps on same clip/settings (veryfast High 4.1).

3) When using any Profile preset from Veryfast to Slower on CUDA (CRF or CQ), I still cannot see any difference in the encoded specs. Always using same clip (h264_1080p_hp_4.1_40mbps_birds.mkv)

1) So does that mean the problem will be ignored because it works OK for you ? I can't be the only person that this happens to. Can you please test it with a different 1080p clip and compare it to the FREE Handbrake ? My specs are as follows (even though i've listed them twice before in other threads) :-

Intel Core i5-4200M
HD Graphics 4600 (Haswell)
nVidia GT 745M (2 GB) CUDA v3.0 (Driver version 344.11)
Windows 7 64-bit

No problem will not be ignored, we just need to reproduce it to resolve it...
Will try today with another source, but I don't think the problem is here (I think it should be with your graphic card)
Will compare Handbrake and Video Converter too.

I don't see it in v1.5.0.1 (was it worth releasing for 2 issues ?). I think your program is actually getting slower at encoding every version (I've been using my friends DVDFab recently (literally 4 times faster) until yours improves.

I have not been able to use Cuda on either 1.5.0 or 1.5.0.1. I've reverted to 1.4.0.22 and it works.

hmm, i'am not shure - but when i show at the miniature preview pictures, dvdfab and videconverter has on my computer approximately same processing time by equal quality -settings. I think VSO Video Converter displaying 1 frame/sec but real processing 5-10 picures/sec. Not shure ....

The displayed frame/sec and the real frame/sec differs on different software products -that i can't understand. :roll:

Processing- time of the free Handbreak-Converter on my computer same quality is slower then VSO
(i'am using on occasion Handbreak only because his (but slow) H265 codec processing. Not often -because pocessing time of H265 is very slow)

My computer system:

Windows 8.1 64bit

- "was it worth releasing for 2 issues ?" I wanted to release new beta including NVEnc and QuickSync encoders but not had time to test them enough. So I disabled them just before publishing...
- "I think your program is actually getting slower at encoding every version". Whe are doing a hard work to make uniform all our H264 encoders at this time (H264 software, nvcuvenc, cuvenc and QuickSync) and I think next versions will have a lot of problems fixed.
I'm doing a lot of tests about H264 settings/tuning/speed/video quality at this time and getting good/better results.
Thank you for your patience and all your feedbacks, but if you want to do a "test break", you can go back in some days...

@scorpion90: do you have the last nVidia drivers installed?

@andima: thank you for your positive feedback. You're right, we known that some encoding software display a higher framerate than real encoding framerate, and maybe user encoding tests should report encoding time rather than displayed framerate.

CUDA 176 fps (1min 21sec) (4,353 Kbps Variable Bitrate) 311 MB

Won't let me select QuickSync (greyed out).

VSO crashes when cancelling during conversion on NVENC.

Still no difference when using H264 presets with GPU acceleration (NVENC tested). Are they even supposed to work when using GPU acceleration ?

I still don't know if advanced options are usable when using GPU acceleration (MediaInfo still says 2 reference frames when I select 4). Maybe you could disable the ones that can't be used when using GPU acceleration.

Tony, NVIDIA released newer drivers on the 19th...344.11 is the newer version. I'm also curious how the newer cards will react with VSO now. Are you guys seeing better results?

Hi MyMojo,

Thanks for the heads up on the new driver. I installed it and did a reference conversion of my mkv file with DTS HD MA 7.1 and NVENC enabled. The hardware accel was very low at a 2-10% utilization and a conversion speed of 49-60 fps with an average of about 59 fps. The utilization could use some improvement. Since the VSO software and the video driver are new, I'm not sure which one is responsible for the reduction in hardware utilization.

And I can't open "iso-Files" : Access violation at adress00C01CD2 in module 'vsovideoconverter.exe'. Read address 00000000

I am having several problems with 1.5.0.3. The first is that it throws an error message upon launch (see attached picture file). The second one is that it refuses to use hardware acceleration with the new nvidia driver "344.11-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql" and won't do a conversion.
