|
|
I converted 2 dvds and neither one plays in either one of my stand alone dvd players.
I never had this problem before, the media I use I never once had a problem with and I didn't change any of the conversion settings..that I know of.
I'll include the log, can someone give me some insite on what the problem is. Also jus to make sure if it was a media problem i burned the same movie using a tdk dvd and it still didn't play.
I normally use Maxell dvd's and burned 100's of them with no problem, now this.
Plz help and thanks.

First, does the video, after conversion but before burning, play properly using a software player on your computer? And does the burned DVD play properly in your computer
Second, uncheck the option to Include Originals in the Settings>Burning tab before you add your video file and try converting again.
Third, also try burning at 4x instead of 8x.

I played the original xvid file on my comp and it plays fine. I normaly keep the back up files with the conversion process and I never had a problem with that.
I noticed that there was an error message in my log
10/23/2009 11:34:45 PM error Write error at 283920 (16) - Code 04 09 01 [HW error, Tracking servo failure]
is that my problem and what went wrong? |

And what's the purpose of keeping your original files backed up on the same DVD where you have your converted movie? Backup files are generally made so that you have the original file available if something bad happens to your converted file - like a damaged or lost DVD - and you need to have the original available for backup so you can convert it again. And if you damage or lose the DVD then you will not be able to retrieve the backup file from it anyway.

That sounds like a hardware problem. It could be that you're having burner issues with your burner.

Good point but i just don't leave my dvd's laying around i keep them in a case and i'm the only one that has access to them, I see where your coming from when you say if the dvd gets lost or damaged how can i use the back ups.
It's just a personal prefrence, plus why else would they include the option in the software to begin with. For some reason i might want to change something in the menu or change how it fits to screen, i just can't burn the converted file again a do that. Plus having too many files will just clutter up my system so i get rid of them. If i got the original file then i can go back and make those changes and scrap the converted dvd.
I took you advice and deleted the converted files and converted them again and this time it worked, i played it in my dvdplayer and all's fine.
I think my problem was that i had my comp running all day and didn't reboot it before i started the conversion process, that's the only reason that i see it working now since i don't normally have problems like this and i hope that is the only reason i had that problem, my fingers are crossed.
thanks for the help and info JoeB, it's nice to have a place to come to and get the help you need. |

Same problem with me, mpr!

Update:
I've discovered the problem was a defective batch of DVD-R blanks.
I opened up a new spindle of DVDs and burnt the same video file to it. Now plays every time in my standalone. |
