Cropping in beta 2.0.0.6

Post by sokristi »

Trying to crop black areas from blu-ray and convert to mp4/H264 HD as well as HD-Ready. Crashes out, log claims libswscale is missing/can't be found. Removed cropping, everything seems to work.
(On a side note : Any real advantages to cropping? Was thinking that not having to recode those blacks would mean smaller file or better quality at same size. Is this actually the case or...?)

I can actually use cropping on other movies, but usually for HD movies, it is acting a bit weird. I am not sure what is the problem. A compatible issue perhaps?!

A solid full screen black panel requires only about 25 kbps (less than half what most subtitles require) since it is black and does not chamge from frame to frame. So black letterbox bars that cover 25% of the screen will use about 6 kbps (about one tenth required for a sutitle), negligible IMO.
