CopyToDVD sudden problem

Postby fungus » Fri Jan 11, 2013 6:48 pm

Hi: I use CopyToDVD 4.3.1.10 and it has always worked very well.

Now, suddenly, it will make perfect data CD or Audio discs, but the discs always have the WRONG files recorded on them. I am using the CopyToDVD console window where I select files and drag them to the recording window.

In trying to solve this I see that CopyToDVD is trying to save a file in C:\Program Files (x86)\vso\copytodvd\Projects. My computer (Windows 7-64) complains and says that this isn't authorized, "Save in C:\Users\John ?".

Saying either yes or no doesn't help with the problem. Running Copytodvd as administrator didn't help either.

Finally I deleted all VSO files from C:\programdata\VSO, all *c2c files I could find anywhere, and any .iso or .log files I could find that looked VSO related.

Now it worked a few times and recorded what I actually selected.

Will these actions have permanently fixed my problem?

What else should I do?

What would have been the correct way to fix this the first place?

Thank you,

Are the disks being ejected after the burn?
Have you changed the disk you are burning onto to?

Yes and yes.

Somehow Copytodvd makes perfect discs, but finds a file somewhere and uses it as the list of files to record.

I have deleted all log VSO log files, c2c files, and some other files that might have file lists in them.

Now I seem to be able to make both data and audio CD discs without this problem occurring. I am very careful to look at all discs burned by C2D to be sure they aren't again the wrong files. I must regain trust or I will have to find other software.

I suspect this started with a windows7 update or similar event.

Would you recommend that I remove the software and then re-install it again?

Sometimes software becomes so full of un-needed features that it becomes its own worst enemy. Acronis for example.

Thanks for any suggestions that will simply make it reliable again for me.

Are you using RW disks?

A new version will be out probably by the end of this week.

Have you reproduced the problem since you have

Both write only and also read-write discs experienced the same result.
As I said before, the actual discs created are perfect in every way except having the wrong files.

I've used this version (4.3.1.10) for a few years with no problems and now, suddenly, the results are poor. I do not think that CopyToDVD has changed at all, maybe something bad happened when Windows 7-64 did updates?

I'm not interested in buying a new version of CopyToDVD unless I must do so.

Version 4 will not be updated. I read your post the wrong way previously.

I do not have any solution for you in regards to the current version of version 4 you are using.

We have not had any complaints like this for the several years this version has been online.
Here is the last official version of version 4 if you want to completely uninstallour products and install it that is the only way I see correcting your problem.

and try with Last official version of CopyToDVD version 4:

Claire:
Thank you, I'll give the newer version 4 a try. I think I still have my install code.

Is the new version 5 well tested and stable?
Will version 5 be supported for some time or is a version 6 being prepared?

There are still some known problems with v5. A new version will be read in a matter of days that should fix the known problems.

Claire:

Thanks for the information and the newer version of the "4" software. I installed it and it seems to be working. I'll stick with version 4 until I believe that version 5 is fully debugged.
