Have they updated v5 to work with XP yet? ... Is it out of Alpha stage?

It has been over one month, and I still can't use either program.
CopyTo 5 doesn't support XP, and v4 has the access violation error.

I'm not mad at you, Claire, ... Just wondering why the support rep at VSO said you'd be handling my issues with the programs!

At what point in time do I ask for a refund, if both version programs don't work for me?

To use CopyTo 5 as it is now, I'd have to upgrade to Vista, or Windows7.
CopyToDVD latest v4 has the Access Violation error, so when does the support at VSO start for me?

I feel the VSO support rep just brushed me off saying "... I see Claire started a dialogue with you, on the forum, regarding this, so she will be handling your program support issue ..."

Please tell me how stupid I should feel now? ... And why they don't seem to want to fix v4 while v5 is being worked on.
:? :!:

I wish I could bring you some good news, but I don't have any on the subject of CopyToDVD.

Maybe a new version could be available in 1 month. I really do not have an idea, but probably not in the next 2 weeks.

I understand completely.

If you want a refund we can process it today.

To make up for this disappointment please let us offer a working version of CopyToDVD to you free of charge (when it is ready).

If you do not want a refund maybe we can offer you another product to compensate for this delay in development.

That's really very nice of you to offer, but I'm not looking for a freebie.
I don't mind paying for the program as long as I know there's some time frame for completion.

Besides, I paid the extra amount for lifetime updates to the CopyToDVD Key, and don't expect to get that as a free offer of the program. It wouldn't be fair to VSO.

Is it possible the developer could add the code to the v5 CopyTo, so XP will work with it?
This way I could use it now while I'm waiting for it to get out of Alpha stage.

If not, I'll just wait some more. (how much longer could it be, 1 or 2 more months, not a whole year ... YES..?)

Thanks Claire.

I wish I could give you a time frame but if it is as bad as my previous one that would be no good at all. Maybe giving a time frame jinx it.

I wish the developer could give you a quick fix but as he is working on a totally different project I do not know if it is possible.

That's OK Claire, I'll wait a bit longer. (I don't think you could jinx anything if you tried) :D

Maybe it's time for me to update to Win7 Pro 64-bit, anyway...!

If there's only one person doing your development, I can see how he's overwhelmed, and hasn't got the time yet.

We have a couple of developers each working on their own projects / products.

The work should start again on CopytoDVD in 2 weeks (but that does not mean a version will be available then - and notice the should in that sentence.

I have been told that if you want to burn your project we can help you by connecting to your computer to do a work around. I have sent that info email.

Hi again, Claire,
As I mentioned in my eMail reply, it's very nice of your team to offer to take the time with remote assistance, but being that system is down now, and in the process of a hardware upgrade, I may also update the OS to Win7 Pro 64.

That will at least give me the option of using the CopyTo 5 as it is now... without extra development by VSO.

The burn project will wait. It was just some videos of my Mom.

Hi, Claire
There seems to be a burning engine bug (this problem started in version 4 but cannot rember from what version it first appeared) Any DVD folder (that i.e. created say using CDX4 or Corels Video Studio Pro) the burn is successful but the DVD will not play in any certified DVD player :( i.e. Samsung that singed the accord with the Motion Pictures Expert Group to produce machines with certified MPEG boards.
The same disc will play in Chinese produced el cheapo nock offs (they have believe if you can put it on a disc it will play). None of the 4 Samsung units I have will play the disc (comes up with the error message "this disc cannot be played").
The same problem happens with copy 5.
It has not worried me as I have also Slysofts Copy to DVD 2 :D the same DVD folder burned with this software plays on any machine to date any disc burned with Corels Video Studio Pro (they use Burn Now program) also play on any DVD.
I have the SAO settings enabled and burn setting at 4x can you suggest any other setting to try :?:
Regards
BTW love the GUI of the new program.

Hello Budda_357,

Glad you like the new design.

I am sorry but I do not totally understand your problem. CopyToDVD and ConvertXtoDVD do not use the same burning engine either, at least I do not think so.

A DVD folder you have (with audio_ts and video_ts folder) burns successfully with ConvertXtoDVD and CopyToDVD (version 4 and 5) but does not play in your Samsung player? Please reply: Yes / No
I understand that these burnt disks do play on another DVD player (the cheapo one).

The same DVD folder burnt with what software plays in your Samsung player?
Can you provide that software log file of the burn?

Can you post CopyToDVD log file of the burn too?

Are you using the same brand of disks each time?

Thanks,

Claire

Hi, Claire
Yes any disc using the burning engine of copy2DVD V4, V5 or CX2D V4 or V5 (V4 worked at the begining can not remember which update which there was an update with the burning engine as well the problem problem happend) will not play in any of my Samsung DVD players but that same copy will play on any Chinese made machine.
If I use Convert X to DVD version 2 instead to burn the DVD that V4 created it now plays on the Samsung DVD players that V4 burned copy would not
I am from a the consumer electronics field a service engineer and this was a common problem in the early days of DVD.
Consummers jumped up and down when the region free DVD would play in their cheap DVD player but not in their $700.00 OEM.
OEM DVD Players that uses accredited MPEG boards (these boards 1) are region locked 2) Play DVDs that strictly adhere to their standards).
The Chinese manufacturers did not sign any accord with the M.P.E.G. and the MPEG boards they make are not region locked and loosely play any DVD structer.
As a test have used Convert X Version 2 to burn the DVD folder that Convert X V 4 created. That disk will now play in the Samsung DVD players
Here is the CX2D V2 log of that burn. In addition, If I use CX2D V3 will also work.

Hello,

Well I do not know what might have changed between versions.
If you want and if you burned the same folder with the same disk and burner with version 4 and posted the log file we could compare them.

Your case seems to be pretty isolated however as we have not had many reports like this.
In ConvertXtoDVD version 4, I know there are different burning options, maybe try with "force packet writing" and see if that disk will play.
