Hi,

long time we didn't push a beta, and here you go, it is really a beta, so please don't give it away in pirate boards and forums and news and blogs

the main "big" difference in this version is a new scaler... what is the scaler ? , it is the part where we need to resize the picture ( so frame by frame ) to adapt to the DVD resolution ( PAL and NTSC are different resolution ), where we need to downscale or upscale the picture to fit the only possible resolution of the DVD.
in this part, which can be very important and cpu consuming, we also need to make some color convertion ( RGB to YUV which is the standard for video on tv ), this step and the rescaler has been completely rewritten, and that's why it is a beta version.

speed and color should be better and faster, your comment on this part will be welcome.

Note : you may check and try to rename swscale.dll to swscale.old to be sure to use the new scaler. If you do not know how to do, just do a clean install using cleanvso.exe.

This is a appeal from me(just a user) to the users who want to go the "bad way" by posting it as cracked version / with key generators / serial numbers.
You dig your and our (users) grave for using this software , because if no income on licenses, no money for the employee's of VSO, closing of VSO, and therefor stop update/improve/existence of products. They are already starting to widen their product aray, what leaves less workforce available for the actual programs to be fixed/updated with feature requests.
This is what i "extract" from the widening of product range.

The price is not that high for the product.
- 1 evening going out into the disco.
- Smoke 1 cigarette less every 2 days, based on 1 year time.
- Drink 1 beer less every 3 weeks, based on 1 year time.
- Drive 3 hours less with your car (fuel), based on 1 year time.

I and many other users would like that the product still exist in a few years time. (even better with Blu-ray support)

Regards,
hansK

And forum member Slickinator, you are one of them.
(more then 20.000 downloads on latest v139)

whatever I would say people would like to "share" it, I just outline this version is really a beta, and it is just stupid to post it in newsgroup and so on.

Please let me add this to what hansK wrote:
It is becomeing very common that software is being reverse engineered and repacked with trojans and viruses. A new version number will be used to make it more attractive.

I have had friends that have fallen for the trap and have asked me to help remove the malware. Most of the times it is not easy at all to remove such dirt and also most of the time the operating sysyem will suffer to a point where reinstasllation will have to take place.

Beware of trojans bearing gifts !! In this case this is the perfect saying Wink

so it let me think, if you are speaking about these "side" topic, it means you didn't find any problem yet with the new version, which is pretty encouraging.... Smile

You said you dont write the keygens, crack or serials, but you are supporting piracy and ilegal versions. If you like the program then buy it and dont support piracy

Well i notice after installing this version, and then reinstalling it wiping everything for fresh install. Both times i still got the problem after loading file to convert in, and then hitting convert.. it would load all settings, and say converting but never does the encoding frames and etc start, then after a short peroid of time maybe 1-2 minutes it says done. But file folder is empty, and also notice after starting it and stoping it by myself it gives error saying file im trying to convert is empty, and that not true.

I've tried the new beta version. The picture is clearer now and seems to have better color. The only problem relates to "options and settings". No matter what combination I use, I can't get the converted tracks to play one after the other. It simply goes back to the menu. Is there a way to solve this?

Hi,

To be able to confirm those are bugs, we would at least need your conversion logs, older version if a file worked and the new Beta that shows it won't load.

This way we can see what streams may be causing the issue.

As for the menu issues, again it would be nice to see all your settings to see if I can reproduce it.

Worse case, do a CleanVSO and test with a 100% clean installation, see if the issues still exists.

we are not supposed to have changed anything in the menu behaviour, as Cougar said, we need at least to know the DVD menu template you have used.

Well how do i can a snapshot of the correct log to show yall? btw as i said before, when i hit the convert button it act as if its going to work with all the settings being loaded to the small log below, but never does the encoding frames start or the progress bar on how much longer it will take to convert. Then if i wait it will say its completed withen a few minutes but the file folder for that convert will be empty still.

Anyways i have did the cleanvso and all installs, and i installed the older version to make sure it wasn't a computer problem and it works fine, but this beta version, wont start converting for me.

here is new detail with snapshot of the problem im seeing with it. I dunno if this has to do with vista related or not.

Btw another thing i forgot to mention is, after loading a file to convert, i cant remove the file, it acts as if nothings there, then i cant even close convertxtodvd without atl+ctrl+del and closing the process. As you see in one of the pics i even get a access error sometimes.

HI,

This file has an AC3 and MPEG4 streams which should not be a problem, I've converted several MPEG4 video streams without a problem.

Noticed you use "NO MENU" I will test that.

I suggest you try again with a 100% clean installation, so deinstall ConvertXtoDVD with CleanVSO and try again please.

Maybe the issue is THIS specific file also.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

Thank you for trying the CleanVSO.

I guess, the only way to reproduce the issue, is you will have to send that specific file to VSO so they can see what makes it crash, since it worked on older versions.

How do I change my scaler? Is there an option on the program to choose fast bilinear to other type of scaler? If yes, where can I find it? Will there be a lanczos3 resizer?
