Hi Mel

Try another brand of DVD-R or +R .. preferably a good quality one!
Also good time to check for a firware update for the burner ... That's an OEM HP burner, right?

I got new DVD+R's but it is still giving me the same error message. What brand should I have bought? Also, how do I get new firmware for the burner? And how do I tell if it's an OEM HP burner?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mel ...

When you make the project .. In the output screen, select as Target Device dropdown a hard disc folder. See if the output when finished is playing ok. You can play with a software player that will otherwise play a standard dvd.

If you google the name of the drive from log (HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N C110) you will find it (this is shown anyway in Device Manager in Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager) under DVD CDRom Drives. Double click and look through tabs for info and on details tab for Firmware version. It could be HP or LG, by the looks of it.

A lot of info here! ... I think you need a firmware update if you have (or have had) pproblems burning other dvd's

I could fix it for sure ... but short of you bringing it to England, it will take a while longer! Can you get PC-savvy help there?

Make sure doing these tests that you burn only to hard disc and make sure you can play a standard dvd on your PC.

Cheers 4 now

Al.
