CANNOT BURN DVD: IFO files doesn't exist in folder

Postby bobtannica » Sat Jun 20, 2009 10:12 pm

Before posting this I searched the forum, found two strings dedicated to this topic but no solutions. Und zo.........

My name is bobtannica. I have a computer running Vista 64 bit. The burner that I am using is HP dvd1040R and has been working fine. I have an AVI File that I am trying to burn to DVD using ConvertXtoDVD 3.6.2.153. I know it neither burned it nor converted it. My question is why and how to fix it(?). Help, please!

I am enclosing the export configuration file from gspot as follows.

Nothing have really been converted so there are no files there to burn.

There's something wrong with your source file. Probably so is the file header messed up in some way. Try remuxing the file with VirtualDub or AVI-Mux GUI.

Then so can i recommend you to upgrade to the latest release of ConvertX. (ie v3.6.12.174)

Thanks but no joy

Postby bobtannica » Sun Jun 21, 2009 11:33 pm

Well, Netranger, thanks for your reply. I am and was able to watch the video on the computer without problem so it's not completely junk. It still won't convert or burn. I did attempt to remux with VirtualDub which seemed to go without problem. But no joy. Re the entry that says "Warning No data in video stream #1. Check source file." Could they have put a some sort of null file first to screw with copying software? Is there a program out there that will allow me to look at each individual file? Just blue skying here. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks.

Try and use Avidemux and transcode Video to MPEG-4 ASP (Xvid4). You can leave the audio settings "Copy"

http://avidemux.berlios.de/download.html

Or you can try Nero Vision, if you have it. Convert to mpeg 2 and author in ConvertX.

can you try with the latest version of ConvertXtoDVD.

What surprises me in the log file is this:
2009-06-20 10:56:01 Error Exception raised in conversion Thread with message "External exception C000001D"

Downloading even as I type. Not completely sure that remuxing was the issue. It seemed to work just fine when I used VirtualDub per netranger's suggestion. But then still wouldn't convert. Will let you know. Thanks!

Not sure what difference going from v3.6.2.153 to v3.6.12.174 is gonna make. Do I really need to pay for a new version that is so incremental? I will consider the suggestion and if you have compelling info re this...pm me. Having searched that error on these forums, I gather that you are wondering whether my CPU is not compatible with convertXtodvd. I do have an AMD 7750 dual core not Intel so I suppose that it is possible. I think I will: a) try it with my antivirus off as per a different reply and b) use VSO Clean and un/reinstall. c) try this version on my laptop which is Intel but has no internal burner and is *shudder* single core. Lol! Thanks for your help.

No, you won't have to pay for this incremental upgrade.

Or you can try Nero Vision, if you have it. Convert to mpeg 2 and author in ConvertX.

Interesting thing....when I run the avi through video inspector it lists the codec used as XviD Mpeg-4.

Avast

Postby bobtannica » Sun Jun 28, 2009 2:58 am

Well, believe it or not. the genius who suggested turning off my virus scanner was right. I disconnected from the net and turned Avast off and budda bing.....it burned without a problem. Go figure. I just wish I could remember who specifically suggested it. Must have been a different thread cause I don't see the reply that referenced it. Anyway, thanks to all who participated and helped out. I feel like I learned a lot from you guys.

Re: CANNOT BURN DVD: IFO files doesn't exist in folder

Postby Pyana1 » Sun Aug 28, 2011 11:08 pm

Happened to me early... Kind knew it wasn't ConvertXtoDVD's fault since I burned over a 1000 plus DVDs in about 6 months... So i did a little trouble-shooting and it turned out I didn't have the required 4 gb (I think it's 4 GB) that ConvertX requires in-order to burn a DVD... Free your hard-drive and try again!

Pyana1: why are you digging up old threads?

To original posters - there are some videos (and music files, including mp3) that contain trojans. Attempting to convert those will produce errors, and shutting down antivirus just open your system for viral actions. One file that is badly infected is avi containing movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". If you have this and your system is starting to act weird then you are infected.
That trojan will install rootkit and is almost impossible to remove without IT -specialist who knows how to remove it.

Always keep your antivirus on and updated!
