[Solved] Blank Disk After Burn

Postby plummer_blue » Mon Apr 09, 2012 2:27 am

I've come across many of these but none of them could help. I convert/burn and .avi file, the dvd drive writes to the disk (I can hear the spinning and after I can see the "burn area"). The disk is ejected (tried 4.7-r and rw), I put the disk back in and windows has a pop up asking if I want to burn files on this blank disk. Ive tried different disks, windows movie maker and ashampoo10. I've updated all of the drivers on my computer, and as far as I know I have the latest firmware for my dvd writer (can't find a newer one). As of last week, I could burn with no problems, now it won't burn at all. I haven't done anything major to my comp, and even though its old, I take good care of it. I've uninstalled the drivers for the writer and the device its self, then reinstalled. It says I have the latest drivers and there is no problem with my dvd writer. It can read dvds that it hasn't written its self, and even though there's information on it.. it still shows up as a blank disk.

My specs
Windows 7 Ultimate, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHz, 4 Gigs of RAM, 32 bit system.

This is the log file that I got when I tried to burn out the vob files from the video folder of what I wanted to burn

That disc is burned correctly.

Problem is most likely your system, it detects RW and knows that it can be written again. Close autostart and check with explorer what is on that disc.

Use burning program that can verify, like ImgBurn.
If that reports all ok and still you see nothing, then something really strange is going on.
Have you tried those DVDs on other computer?

If they don't work on any computer then most likely your burner is faulty.

I have had this happen in the past when the burning laser on my writer has quit working. I buy a new burner and problem is solved. BTW the drive will still read but writing is gone.
