BatchXtoDVD is now available for download from

http://beta.cmsoft.co.uk

It works in very much the same way as ConvertXBatch, and it has been designed to look the same too for the sake of familiarity.

However, there are some differences. First of all, if you have more than one version of ConvertXtoDVD installed, BatchXtoDVD will by default select Version the newest - BUT you can choose to use an earlier version if you wish.

BatchXtoDVD will work quite happily with FileLists on Vista regardless of whether or not UAC is enabled (ConvertXBatch would not save filelists on Vista if UAC was enabled).

BatchXtoDVD uses the ConvertXtoDVD registry settings. If you choose between using V2, V3 and V4, the correct settings are loaded for that version.

I would be very grateful for any feedback, comments, suggestions, bug reports etc.,

AND if anyone would like to take on the task of writing the help file, then I would be a very happy person Smile

Hi,

v0.0.0.2 ßeta

I loaded 2 saved projects

When it starts, instead of loading project 01 and converting, it opens the select a file, video window instead.

Question/Suggestion:

When using a "Single File" should it still use the default menu template selected in ConvertXtoDVD or just converted it and force it to use "No menu" ?

If I want a menu, I should prepare a projects and set all my names etc... not ?

This is an error with 3.1.0.26 - it was reported as a bug and has been fixed for the next release. It's not an error with BatchXtoDVD

Good point - I never use menus anyway. Would you think it would be more beneficial to just force no menus, or have an option to use no menus?

On a single file, maybe have a selector ?

[X] Convert Only, No Menu
[ ] Use ConvertXtoDVD Default Template

v0.0.0.3 ßeta now online.

New option on the settings page allows you to select either "No Menu" or "Default Template"...

Your "Pre-Made Project" batching is not working correctly at all. If I enter projects A, B, and C and start the conversion it will do correctly project A and then it will attempt to do project A again. I then have to manually abort out of that and then it tries to do project A again.

Thanks for pointing that out! This has now been rectified, and v0.0.0.4 ßeta is now available for download.

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

In the meantime I have a request for a feature. For whatever reason VSO does not see the important of this when I write to them and I can't get anyone here to file an official feature request into the bugs database for me.

By default, CXD will take the name of the first titleset and save the resulting DVD to that subdirectory. In other words, if you have a conversion which uses the files A.avi, B.avi, and C.avi, the resulting AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS subdirectories will be located at C:\Convertx2DVD\A or whatever the default location is set as. The point being that "A" becomes the subdirectory name. Nevermind that they have a setting called "DVD Name" which they don't use other than becoming the default Project name if you save the project. So, if you happen to be doing episodic DVDs with the first titleset on each disk being called "Episode 1", you are screwed. It wants to overwrite the contents of the C:\Convertx2DVD\Episode 1 subdirectory and throws up an error popup. If you are doing a batch conversion with your program or other batch methods, the batch stops until it gets a reply. All this could be avoided if only CXD would use the "DVD Name" as entered by the user or if one was not entered by them, to use a timestamp as a unique subdirectory name.
Is there any way that your program can override the stupid way that CXD now makes up its subdirectory names? I'd even be happy if after converting the first project to C:\Convertx2DVD\Episode 1 the subdirectory was simply renamed to C:\Convertx2DVD\Project 1\Episode 1 (or some such thing) before starting the conversion on the second project in the batch. Anything that would assure a unique subdirectory to be formed will do but I'm really partial to the timestamp idea.

Possible?

v0.0.0.5 ßeta now available for download.

There is a new option on the Settings page "Prefix Output Folder With Timestamp".

If you try and batch convert more than one file with the same name (i.e. two movies of title "Movie.avi" - then by default, if you have overwrite enabled, ConvertXtoDVD will overwrite the first conversion with the second, and if you don't have overwrite enabled, ConvertX sits and waits for user input - thus halting the batch.

This new option will convert the movie, and once successfully converted, will prefix the output folder name with the date and time in the format "yyyymmdd-hhmmss <original folder name>", meaning that you can have as many videos of the name "Movie.avi" in the batch list, and each on will end up in it's own directory. Unfortunately, I can't get the folder to be created with the timestamp before conversion takes place - however, it should mean that you can safely batch convert with overwrite enabled.

Oh and one last point on this, it's not the "Working Folder" name that gets prefixed, it's the subfolder within, created by ConvertX during conversion that gets prefixed.

This isn't a bug - as stated in the first post of this thread, these options are not yet enabled even though they are shown.

Thanks for the video showing what you meant. This was a bug that only affected some pre-made project files, and has been fixed in v0.0.0.8

v0.0.0.8 ßeta now available for download

Now checks pre-made project files to ensure that the associated video files actually exist. If not, the project won't get added to the queue, and the log will show the names of the missing video files.

Fixed a bug in that some pre-made project files weren't being passed correctly to ConvertXtoDVD.
