Hi,

You can find your VSO Software log files in this directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Vso

You can find the log file for Patin Couffin (The lower level VSO driver) here:

My Documents\PcSetup

UPDATE:

Windows Vista & Windows 7 users can find their logs here:

C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Vso

UPDATE #2:

Since CopyToDVD v4.2.2.x the logfile has changed placed, and can be found here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Vso

Hi,

Thank you Lee40 for the addition.

Actually, v2.2.0.251 now opens/add the Crash_Log when you open from the Help menu Wink

It's not in the application data-I have 55 VSO files but don't know which one it is-I am beta testing and need to get to the crash log-I had problems burning tonight-Can I post the log from the help menu or do they need the other?

Some posters don't know how to best post their log.

The preferred way is to copy and paste only the relevant session(s). Note that time and date increase as you move up in the log file. So a session includes from one 'Report session started' line to the next one above it. Please include the entire session, it can provide pertinent clues about the problem you have.

If you don't know which one(s) are relevant: copy and paste the entire file if it is short or attach the complete file if it is long. There is a place below the text box for attaching files.

Perhaps (?) my version of ConvertXtoDVD (2.2.3.258) defaults the PcSetup log elsewhere as mine is not at...

C:\My Documents\PcSetup

..instead mine's at...

C:\Documents and Settings\[My Name]\My Documents\PcSetup

This probably sounds like a dumb question but what is "USERNAME" supposed to be in [C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Vso] ?

Is it a name I registered ConvertXtoDVD under?
Also I don't know how to locate that file on my computer or what that "username" should be.
This is so over my head!

It means YOUR username with XP systems. Usually same one you installed CxD with.

An easier way to find you log file is to just open CXD and go to Help>Open Log File. It will open in a text editor and you can save it from there as a txt file to post here as an attachment, or copy the text and paste it into a post here.

You're welcome. I don't know why they don't edit the first post of this thread and put that info in that post. :-(

If you would have read the manual, you had found it directly (and much more).

This topic dates from a time when there did not exist a proper manual.

In Windows 7 you can find your VSO Software log files in this directory: -

C:\\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Vso

Cheers

I don't have Windows 7 or ConvertX v.3, but I suspect you can still also find the conversion/burning log file in the program itself: Help>Open Log File.

I doubt that this is going to solve the problem you're having, but the log is just a text file. If you want to clear it, just open it from Help>Open Log File and it will open in Notepad. Highlight everything in the log, hit the Delete key and everything will be deleted. Now save the empty file.
