What about DVD-/+RW? I'm trying to use my Sony DVD+RW to put some wrestling programs we watch on, and it keeps just spinning in my DVD player.
It works fine with the regular Sony DVD+Rs that I use, so my initial guess is that the program has a problem using RWs as a disc?
I'm having to use AVS Media's Video Converter to do my wrestling...

Hi,
Sony media are usually good media.
But please keep in mind some burners just may hate 1 brand (Media ID) for no known reason.
Ketta 16x (MCC 03RG20) which are really good media, I came accross a burner (NEC-7173A) connected externally, could not burn NONE of those regardless of what I tried.
Slamded in a Yuden003 and 0 problems at all.
Take those Ketta 16x (MCC 03RG20) on an other burner, and they will burn flawleslly since they are good media.
Same goes with RW media.
I have a NEC-3550a and I get much more better reaults with FujiFilm DVD+RW (x2.4) than my Verbatims DVD+RW (x4.0)
Even burned at x2.4 those Verbatims will skip and freeze once in a while.
Then again, every DVD Player may react differently to each media specially RW media.
Some DVD player will just plain hate DVD-RW since they are burned differently than DVD+RW.
Most of the time, using good media will solve lots of issues, but there are still some execptions on Media/Burner/DVD Player compatilibility !

Cougar,
None of the hints you sent me to apply. The DVD disks were burning fine to a couple of days ago (Sony). The DVD drives are both a few months old. This happens on 2 different DVD drives

Just a quick question, is it possible to get faults on a DVD disc by burning it too slowly instead of too fast?
...or slower the better?
I'm burning on sony x16 media at x2.4 speed hoping it will minimize any faults or errors.

I do believe that going way to slow can result in errors when burning on media rated with very high speeds. You likely will have no problems if you burn at half the rated speed of the media. In any event, I wouldn't go lower than 4x with a 16x disc.

Can you explain why it has taken an hour to burn the last couple of DVDs?
Is there a possibility to add an option to call Nero instead of the built in burner?
see attached log.

Did you read the Announcement near the top of the forum which says "Welcome - We recommend reading these tips before foruming"? If you did follow that recommendation, go back and read again, particularly Tip 2. Your log shows you in PIO mode.
Once you've fixed that issue, if you still have problems it's best to start a new thread with the subject heading reflecting your problem rather than doing it in a Sticky or Announcement thread.

When you have a problem it is best to start a new thread with that problem, not post it in an announcement or sticky thread. And make sure that you have read the stickies/announcement threads that might deal with your issue and followed all the advice. If that doesn't help, post your issue in a new thread as well as your log, which you'll find in Help>Open Log File.

JoeB

|
|
Had a lot of ethnic movies over the years that I tried to burn to DVD for my wife but when I played them they ALWAYS froze. I could never playback even one DVD so I didn't bother to burn at all for years. I used Nero 6 then.
Recently I came across ConvertXtoDVD and gave it a try with the watermark and the DVD actually finished without any freezes! I then burned a few more with the watermark and they played back also without freezing so I bought the program and now I've burnt over 30 of my wife's movies and none of them freeze. She is very pleased with this as she can now watch her movies in bed from start to finish without freezing.
I always used to use TDK media but even with TDK the dvd's still didn't freeze. Although since I decided to use Sony DVD + now and they burn just great.
This forum made me take notice of your program because there was a thread about playback issues which to me was my major problem and thanks to that thread I'm now all fixed up. Most other programs only care about selling and then the rest is your problem so I was very impressed that my issue was mentioned and very helpful workarounds and suggestions given which solved my 'years long' burning problem.
I thought it was my DVD player but now I know that not all burning programs are made alike and that ConvertXtodvd is a keeper.
If you want to use any of these statements for marketing Id be only too happy. Just let me know.

Hello how can i do this?
D) I have read several times, that older DVD Player will prefer DVD-R media.
- You can also use DVD+R and booktype them to DVD-ROM.
- Not all DVD burners can do this, so read your manual

Hi MCCAFFE,
I burn always at 4x.
I use Taiyo Yuden +R (first class media) and have up till now No coasters (250 DVD's burned).
It also depends on the burner and its actual internal firmware how good it will "supports" the brand/type of DVD.
You can only find out by burning one.
Regards,
hansK
