ok, got it , yes that's true for the chapter menu, it should be much more files - at least 6 chapters ( 3 columns by 2 rows )

it is making sense to make a new template called : 1 movie

also about dynamic numbers of items , it is not easy , on a graphical point of view, sometimes there is a maximum number of items and when for example there is only 1 title in a template designed for 4, where to put this title ? centered ? top position ?

And that's exactly why we need a menu editor rather than more VSO pre-made templates. One size does not fit all. Your idea of what a menu should look like is not my idea of what it should look like. The program that I think has it right with regards to menus is SVCD2DVD (I don't care for the quality of their conversion though). Objects elements, such as titles and thumbnails can all be added and moved around in a WYSIWYG editor. None of this tree-based input into a pre-made template, cross your fingers and hope it looks alright when it's done.

Guys,
I just tried to change the background image and it doesn't work.
If we can change the background image to whatever we choose that would be fantastic. Smile

One other thing, why can't you convert the old v2 menus to work in V3?
I know a lot of people would like to see this happen instead of adding more and more menus that people may not use and bloating the program and making it load slower. Wink

I think you have to click off the menu (select one of your movies) then click back into the menu so your changes update.

@rendez2k - I tried what you suggested and it didn't work.
See attached image as to what is happening.
In the style editor you can see the black vso image I want to use and behind it in the Video Preview is what the program is set to use as the background image and it will not change.

Arh, I don't use the style editor - just change the background in the menu settings in the DVD options section. I tried it last night and it definitely works. I've never been sure what the background option does in the style editor!

Well ... a step forward Very Happy good job!

In my opinion, the development of menus is hardly intuitive, difficult to create. Sad

Question Do not be simplified? Question

The rest ... excellent! Razz

All that's lacking is the ability to simulate playing in a DVD player (such as ... sorry ... TMPGEnc DVD Author) and would be fantastic! Wink

Try using the Minimal template. A guide to use a background image or video is given here, and other title selection icons can be substituted for the orange line as explained here.

Would be a great idea to reintroduce or add feature of erasing dvd+-rw discs without human intervention, n´est ce pas?

Been on the "we are thinking about it" agenda for some time now, time to stop thinking and go for it! Smile

@ dare2001
when you are the text style editor adding a background image here is not going to apply it to yourproject it is just so you can visualize your text with and example image behind it.

Does that help?

Well, Nero Vision (Yes, I said it and I can't take it back.. Shocked ) allows dynamic placement of thumbnails and titles. It would be a feature that would be welcome in future builds.

I am all for taking customers out of Nero's backyard, by providing a better product with similar and "more" features... Twisted Evil

The output sizing window is brilliant, something that I have yet to see in any other non-professional authoring software.

Never had any crashes before with version 3.0.0.7, but no menu either.
I took 2 video files of 152 and 138meg in size and merged them to one movie. Then changed the text and added animated titles menus and created 6 chapters. The menus use clips from the actual movie (it doesn't show a preview if I select "use from sequence" but does show if I use"custom file" part 1 or part 2) . I saved project. I then remembered I forgot to title the chapters (hadn't been using menu lately because of mistakes). When I selected Chapter 4, it crashed with a out of memory error. I tried to re save but it crashed again with the same error. I closed and restarted the program and was able to title chapters 4-6 ok.
So, guess its getting close.

The menu you picked "elegant", doesn't allow you to pick a background. It is meant to be a fast setup menu. If you select a different menu, you will see a new option just below the title text input where you can select the background you want. (still or video) It will be called background video, then below that, background audio. Try a VSO glossy menu and you will see the new background option appear. Different menus allow different options. Some allow chapter text some just numbers,..etc.
Very Happy

Yes. It allows you to view the menu in the Preview window, although without the animations. But you can see its layout. Check out the posts to make sure you get the latest version, because they are putting out beta versions quite fast with new additions.

JoeB
